That's the weird thing about the respawning - it's so erratic.

On Raingod Spires, Trelliz crashed twice in front of me (the second time he flipped high up into the air) but he reappeared still 2 seconds or so ahead of me.

It happened with Super Final as well, crashing twice and still being ahead. The respawn took no time at all as well, whereas my crashes last for ages. What's more annoying is when you see someone crash in front and think they'll be ghosts by the time you get to them... only to plough right in.

Bah, I'd be much better if I just played Time Trial and sent a list of results to Chalky each Monday - can't you just slot me into the races like that?

If I get caught at the start, I am generally strawberry floated. Likewise, in order to finish 5th or 6th, I need to be in 4th-ish to ensure that when my inevitable crash comes (or I get taken out), then I don't slip too far. Not often do I gain many places back once people get clear.

They're not crashing in those examples. What is happening is the game is compensating for a bad connection by guessing where they are going, except it always guesses they're driving straight into rocks and crashing. When the connection resyncs they appear where they actually are, 2 seconds down the road without crashing.

That's not the respawn though, that's just the shitty net code. It may have looked like Treliz crashed on your screen, but the game just didn't know where Treliz was and guessed with the semi-invisible appearance. Then when the game knows where Treliz is, he appears in his rightful position a few yards down the track.

Perfect example was on Meh during the second or third race of the night. I totally ploughed into the side of him, entirely sacrificial to the cause, only for him not to actually be there at all! He was nicely down the road, in first probably.

It's amazing MS has such a gooseberry fool netcode yet we all love it so. :)

Edit - What Meh said. Too fast for me again!

Was that on Cascade Falls? Somebody did catch the back of me at the tight corner and span me 45 degrees but I managed to counter steer it straight. I'm guessing what you lot saw was a bit more spectacular?

So you crashed because of that? Because the game "assumed" and this assumption was wrong?

Seems a bit harsh. Hopefully they'll sort it out for Apocalypse so what appears on your screen is the "true" version of events.

Now I know why Chalky gets so frustrated sometimes - seeing players crash and then way ahead of you still. Though he was quite calm tonight.

:fp:

Bit of an uneventful night, tbh. Only 1 or 2 standout moments.

Can we put a ban on gooseberry fool vehicle choices for tracks? It would only sully the memory.

That's different :shifty:

My comms don't seem to be working well, either. No banta on the final night? :?

You were coming over loud and clear and the start, but soon disappeared after 6 or 7 races. I presumed it was out of shame at your performance. ;)

I'm considering getting slightly trolleyed on Rum before next weeks finale, only the team championship and the prospective wrath of Herbi and Nood if failure occurs are creating doubts in my mind.

May just have a couple and see how we go. :shifty:

I know what you mean, it's a shame team championship isn't wrapped up as I would like to introduce some drink and just piss about for the night.

The only thing that's stopping me is that Team B really don't deserve to clean up this season :(

And I'd quite like to make it a hat-trick of Team championships :shifty:

Who knows, we may turn out to be even better than normal whilst drunk. Probably should've done a practice run prior to the final ever MM to find out.

Unless we all get smashed for a nice level playing field, Buff's got plenty of time to get stocked up on WKD.

Indeed. Some further thought on this subject is required.

Will try and find some weaker Rum. :)

Sneak peak of next Monday final video.

Image

It's gonna be 20 minutes long, full of nostalgic goodness. And that's not including the more than likely 30 minutes of highlights from the night itself. So you're looking at a possible 50 to 60 minute video on Tuesday morning.

It's gonna be good.

If you do have a space available on Monday - if someone drops out, or gets mysteriously throttled with their controller by a bitter Northerner during the afternoon - then I should be around to play, so you have a full house.

If not, I will see you on Apocalypse. Someone said that by the time I win a race it would be the end of the world, so I am going to hold them to that.
