I watched a cam copy of this last night. It's an odd movie, bits of it are done well but overall it's a mess.

The casting (other than Lex) is good. I like Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot is good etc. But the plot is shite, Lex is awful, shoehorning in the "expanded universe" is crap, the Uruk-Hai at the end is terrible and the whole thing is just so joyless.

I have hopes for Affleck's Batman movie but Justice League is going to be terrible with Snyder in charge.

How Snyder wasn't thrown off anything to do with DC after the reaction to this I just don't understand.
He must be blowing an exec or 2 somewhere at Warner Bros surely.

Would replacing Snyder make any difference? There's no way Warner footed the bill for Man of Steel and BvS and just left one man in charge of everything. They have to have some sort of committee organising this stuff. The grey man group.

The sad truth of the matter is that new DC movies should now be treated the same as new Sonic the Hedgehog games. Warner's hit rate is on the same level as Segas if we take Tim Burton's Batman as their starting point. The Nolan films as Sonic 1,2,3, Batman Returns as Sonic CD, Sonic 2006 as Green Lantern and Sonic Boom as Jonah Hex.

I actually think your comment might be doing a disservice to Sega. I watched the death of superman lives and there back catalog is terrible.

Look at stuff like steel and wild wild west. Really Warner Brothers needs a massive reshuffle.

Snyder really isn't much of a problem. He's got a good visual style with the right team he can do good work.

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.

I am not sure that a 17 year old film is evidence that Warner's need a reshuffle. ;)

While there has been some utter gooseberry fool from them over the last few years (Pan, Point Break, Jupiter Ascending, San Andreas), they have also made some great movies (Mad Max, Creed, Interstellar, The Lego Movie).

They need to remove whoever approved garbage like Jupiter Ascending and give more power to whoever approved Mad Max.

You're right that they make good movies but it seems more that they get lucky it picking up outside talent. Hence stuff like the good films you mentioned. But I don't think they keep something like the marvel franchise going with the DC universe. Although to be honest I'd have to do a ton more research to really back up my point.

EDIT: Yeah my point really doesn't hold.
