To nit-pick slightly, San Andreas reviewed poorly but it was a reasonable success at the box office and that's the part that counts to studios

The one thing that really got me about this was, when Superman has regained his powers (he gets punched in the face and nothing happens then launches Batman through the wall) and Batman is preparing another Kryptonite grenade, why the strawberry float doesn't he use his super speed to stop him instead of lumbering down the hall?!

Anyway, there are a lot of things to nitpick and a lot of flaws in this film namely how disjointed it is which a lot of people have mentioned. Saying that though the critical panning it has gotten is a bit ridiculous imo, there are a lot of good moments and I actually enjoyed the darker tone in comparison to the Marvel films. Eisenberg went into comedy territory a few times but overall I though he played the part that he was seemingly asked to play well, although that's not to say I wouldn't have preferred a more intimidating Luthor. I'm hopeful for the Justice League films which I guess was the aim with this.

Two stand out moments that completely ruined the movie for me was:

Your mom is called Martha? My mom is called Martha too. Let's be friends, bullshit. And, whereas Marvel are doing it right by explaining each character's backgrounds with stand alone movies, DC decided to introduce their characters by a strawberry floating E-mail!!!!!

Then I could go on and say how gooseberry fool Lex Luthor was. What a waste
Doomsday
was. How Batman and Superman have now become mass murderers.

Apart from that, the movie was in places, entertaining!

Finally saw it myself this weekend. What an absolute mess.

I didn't hate it, it's not that bad, but oh dear oh dear.

Couple of things I took away from it.

Batman is an absolute psychopath.
The Martha thing didn't bother me too much. It was a clever way to link the characters and give them some common ground. However it was poorly executed. I had a far bigger issue with Batman doing a complete 180 in the space of a minute. Angry, rage one second then suddenly super best friends. I'd have been much happier if he'd still been suspicious or "you've bought yourself one chance to convince me" or something.

Luther. What were they thinking. Motivation made little to no sense and was extremely poorly explained.

Lois was gooseberry fool.

Doomsday. :fp:

However I did like Gal Gadot and Affleck was very good as the cynical, psycho Batman. Oh and more Jeremy Irons please.

What motivation? I don't remember them ever even trying to explain why Lex does the things he does.

What I took from it was that his daddy was mean to him and he just doesn't like Superman for... reasons. Absolute gooseberry fool show.

When I read stuff like that this I begin to wonder did I even watch the same film as some of you. Lex like Batman thought Superman was a threat, this was stated repeatedly.

II has some pretty major issues but is still immensely enjoyable, III is a slog to get through due to being a terrible comedy and IV...well IV gets points for being short and sweet natured, even if it is a colossal blunder :P

I'd still watch any of them over MoS or BvS in a heart beat...

From what I remember from the Blu Ray features, IV had that much cut from the movie they could have made another movie from it :slol:

Ha, that doesn't surprise me. The short running time is an odd blessing, as IV doesn't outstay its welcome too much even with its horrendous issues. It still has lots of great Gene Hackman scenes, plus Chris Reeve is still on top form and plenty charming. Something poor Cavill never gets the chance to be...

After watching captain america this just seems pretty average. Everything about the tone and story is just so wrong. The casting for lex was also ridiculous and the way they introduced the other superheroes was lazy.

Also, regarding supes hes obviously not dead

Its just so annoying because i prefer the dc superheroes in general, but marvels films are much better.

Have you seen Richard Donner's cut of Superman II? It's almost a completely different film!

I saw Superman III when I was wee and the robot lady at the end scared me so much that I cried

Aye I do want to see that! It'd be worth it along just for the removal of the really unfunny comedic bits in II.

Ahah yeah that robot transformation seems to be a childhood scare for many kids of that era. Not surprised really o_o

Maybe it's because of not seeing SIII until I was an adult, but I'd be more terrified of having to sit through 95% of the comedy in that film again than that scene :P

Regarding Lex's motivation.

He was angry at God for not intervening and save him from his father. With Superman, whom the world see as a "God," Lex want to control a God and have him to do his bidding to prove to the entire world that even God is infallable.

Lex Luthor was the worst thing in the entire film.
