Saw this tonight. It was alright. Wonder Woman's theme tune was strawberry floating great. Hilariously out of place, but great. Dat Lois Lane in the bath tub scene :datass:

I enjoyed the fight sequence with the big super powered Uruk-Hai guy. A lot of the character references went over my head. Must read up on the DC universe.

Although, I wasn't really convinced by Batman's decision to join sides with Superman. Seemed like a really dumb reason, YOUR MOMMY HAS THE SAME NAME AS MINE, LETS BE FRIENDS. I am probably missing something.

Jesus Christ :dread:

Still enjoyed it, I knew to switch off my brain when Bruce Wayne somehow managed to walk through the dust of the just collapsed skyscraper, without actually getting any dust on him.

David I think, the bloke you see in Wayne Tower

The character's name is Jack - it did sound a little like Dad.

I call them "Indy in a fridge" moments, as they are so unlikely to leave the protagonist alive that they actually ruin the rest of the film.

Then a strawberry floating horse trots through like this is a totally normal day...

Even a trained police horse would lose it in that situation. I think it had lost it's rider too (that may be an error of my memory though). It was just pointless to have the horse there, especially when everyone should have died in that situation anyway. It's a shame, as I really liked the idea of that scene and thought it was pretty well done other than that part. It gave Bruce Wayne at least some motivation for how he felt and acted later on. Shame he should have died though.

You're worried about the realism of a horse's reaction?

This is a movie with a FLYING MAN.

Firstly, worried probably isn't the right word  Irritated I'll give you...

Secondly, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect things to play out vaguely realistically, even when there are fantastic aspects to the film. In fact, it could be argued that it's even more important to keep things rational in a film with a flying man. Wondering why people and animals can somehow survive things they shouldn't be able to jars you out of the suspended disbelief you need for this sort of film. I call them Indy in a fridge moments because, during Crystal Skull, I was jolted out of the film several times by remembering that Harrison Ford should actually have been vapourised less than 15 minutes into the film, or had every bone in his body shattered when his lead tomb landed without any form of cushion whatsoever. Tell me there's an alien who can fire eye lasers and fly and I'll believe you. Tell me anyone "normal" ran into a huge dust cloud and didn't suffocate (like I'm sure some people did in the very real building collapses that scene obviously borrowed a huge amount of imagery from) and a tiny bit of my brain calls bullshit. It's not as bad as Crystal Skull, but it's still bad filmmaking.

I don't think it is unreasonable to expect some kind of realism. Well, I guess they thought Affleck had to look vaguely presentable in the next scene.

Oh yeah, Affleck > Bale

WB taking a more hands-on approach now, Justice League to be more of a crowd-pleaser suited to Snyder's talents ("extremely kinectic and visual" and more straightforward than existential):
If all the recent release date shuffling and rumored restructuring of the Warner Bros. status quo didn’t make it clear, those numbers certainly should: They’re close to hitting the panic button in Burbank this week.

Reports suggest an ongoing culture shift at the studio, with fewer original titles being greenlit as WB doubles down on franchise generators like DC Comics, Lego and Harry Potter. Certainly there’s a fever, what with Disney printing money from the “Star Wars” and Marvel hit parade. But the hot seat is getting hotter, as this is the year Warner chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara’s chickens come home to roost.

Snyder, therefore, has been making the bulk of the creative decisions. I’m told production exec Jon Berg and and Time-Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes are taking more of a hands-on approach now, paying closer attention to overarching story concerns, but someone well versed in both production and DC’s minutiae is what’s needed. Greg Silverman, head of film production at WB, may have too much on his plate, same as DC Entertainment boss Diane Nelson, who also oversees their core publishing business. Meanwhile, the competition has production company Marvel Studios — with a creative driving force at the top — and DC, surprisingly, still doesn’t have an analog.

As for “Batman v Superman,” those involved weren’t prepared for the critical knives the film received, but they always knew it was going to be a transitional film, bridging the gap between “Man of Steel” (which was produced with no plan in place to expand the universe) and anything approaching the Avengers/Super Friends mold. But I’m told “Justice League” will be a crowd-pleaser more suited to Snyder’s talents, and that the upcoming two-part event is “extremely kinetic and visual.” It will be far more straightforward than existential in its handling of superheroes.

So maybe the bounce-back will be considerable when it finally hits screens in November of next year. Either way, with production scheduled to start next week in London, the pressure is officially on.

So does that mean there have been re-writes? But isn't Justice League filming right now? Also,'being more of a crowd pleaser suited to Synders talents', I thought this what he has been doing?! It certainly wasn't for the story.

So many questions ._.

Zack Snyder wrote:“We had a scene that we cut from the movie where he tries to look for her when he finds out that Lex has got her. It was a slightly dark scene that we cut out because it sort of represented this dark side. Because when he was looking for his mom he heard all the cries of all the potential crimes going on in the city, you know when you look. I kind of like the idea that he’s taught himself not to look because if he looks it’s just never ending, right? You have to know when, as Superman, when to intervene and when not to. Or not when not to, you can’t be everywhere at once, literally you can’t be everywhere at once, so he has to be really selective in a weird way about where he chooses to interfere.”

Yes, let's not include moments that might make a sequence resonate emotionally and therefore be better.

I will try my best to do this without any real spoilers...

Zack Snyder managed to create a movie featuring Batman and Superman that is simultanously boring for adults and too grimdark to be appealing to children. He must have been trying to acheieve that because I do not understand how you manage it when you are given two of the most iconic superheroes to work with. Another amazing acheivment is being to able to fit so little action into a movie this long for most of its running length whilst also managing to fit so little story as well. I mean, after watching it I struggled to remember what I had been watching for most of the time because so little happened in such a long period. Bare in mind that these are comicbook superheroes we are watching. There should have been no end of amazing action taking place. Instead we get needless gooseberry fool like Batman's origin story (is there a single person in the world who does not know it by now), Clarke talking with ghost-dad (no, not the computerised one, he now has two ghost-dads both kryptonian and human) and Lex strawberry floating around with kryptonite for no reasons that make no sense when you realise his actual plan (his actual plan makes no sense either but I'm not going to get into that now). Then there is Wonder Woman. She is amazing, yes, but she did not have to be in this movie as she contributes zero to the plot other than as a device to frame the set up of Justice League in the epilogue. I admit that she was a welcome relief in this movie, probably because she was the only person who seemed to actually enjoy themselves at any point, but if the rest of the movie had not been so dull that would not have been necessary.

Apparently the producers told him that Superman was not allowed to kill anyone this time, so instead he did a flashback to the events of Man of Steel (because they can't undo the killings that already happened, right?). Also, no one apparently told him that Batman could not kill anyone, so he gleefully incorporated a tonne of batmurders into the movie up to and including driving the batmobile through some guy's face at one point. Seriously, what the strawberry float is wrong with Snyder? Did he torture animals as a kid?
