More Kick-Ass Updates

'Jesse' from BreaktheFourthWall.com alerted us that on Tuesday they got a chance to talk to Mark Millar, who revealed more details about Kick-Ass. Matthew Vaughn will direct the big screen adaptation of Millar and John Romita Jr.'s title, and last Friday Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Chloe Moretz were announced as co-stars:

Me and my friends run a blog and Tuesday Aug 19th one of our members got to do an audio interview with Mark Miller during one of his book tours for his new comic War Heroes.

Well during the interview he revealed a little bit more about the Kick-Ass film that was not previously announced.

Including:

That the main character of Dave Lizewski HAS been cast. This happened last week and he is an "unknown actor in America"

Shooting is going to start 3 weeks from now in London, Canada (double for New York) then back to London again.

You can listen to the full audio interview here!

I'd like to pretend Superman Returns didn't happen as well. Most boring two and a half hours of my life.

:fp:

A reboot so soon after a previous film is tricky to do (although Hulk did it well).

Superman is a brilliant hero, but it's hard to make a film for it.

Mark Walhberg is in them.

Seriously though, I have such high hopes for the movie that I just know I'm going to be let down. :(

At risk of me looking like I'm having a blonde moment, but those arches look as if they're trying to symbolise(sp?) angel wings?

I've worked it out.

His legs are far to short for his body.

He actually looks like a 12 year old in that image to the right.

The other image, I sort of like. Even if Marky Mark does have this, "bollocks, I've just dropped my mobile on the floor but can't be arsed to bend over & pick it up" look slapped all over his face.

Veronica Mars Movie Heating Up?

There was talk last year that Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas wanted to bring that short-lived TV series back as a feature film. Now comes word that Thomas and the series' star Kristen Bell have actually sat down to talk about the project.

Entertainment Weekly's The Ausiello Files recently chatted with Thomas, who confirmed that he and Bell met at his production company office to discuss the Mars movie.

"It's very tough to focus on it right now with two pilots [Cupid and Outrageous Fortune] on my plate," Thomas told the site when asked about the film. "But as soon as I have any free time, that's my top priority." Thomas also acknowledged that he's had "a few conversations" with the series' executive producer, Joel Silver.

The series followed teenager Veronica Mars, once one of the popular kids, who finds herself an outcast after a series of events that began with the murder of her best friend. Following in her private eye father's footsteps, she takes cases from her classmates, while trying to solve the murder and avenge her friend.

McG Lets Slip T4 Plot Details

Director McG has been shedding some light on the highly secretive plot of Terminator Salvations: The Future Begins, saying that the clue is apparently all in the title.

He told MTV enigmatically: "Even though we may sin, ultimately we deserve a second chance", with said second chance reffering to the titular Salvation. We presume the sin he's talking about is man creating the evil machines, who subsequently punish humankind.

McG said Salvation alludes to the actions of a specific character, with the director mysteriously adding: "Sometimes life is worth living when you make sacrifices so others may benefit." But which charcter is he talking about?

We don't know but it's interesting stuff all the same, albeit rather vague.

Ben Affleck is ready to suit up for Miramax's Mike Judge comedy "Extract."

Ben Affleck is in negotiations to play the best buddy of Jason Bateman's character, a flower extract factory owner dealing with workplace problems and a streak of bad luck, including his wife's affair with a gigolo.

Clifton Collins Jr. is also joining the cast as a factory worker who loses a body part in a freak accident and is now due for a huge settlement. Mila Kunis and Kristen Wiig have already boarded the project, which begins lensing Monday in Los Angeles.

Judge penned the screenplay and is producing with John Altschuler and Mike Rotenberg via the trio's Ternion Prods. shingle.

Affleck has a longstanding relationship with Miramax dating back to "Good Will Hunting" during the Weinstein brothers era. He made his directorial debut, last year's "Gone Baby Gone," for the specialty label.

Affleck's last significant onscreen role was in 2006's "Hollywoodland." He has two films in the can: Universal's "State of Play" and Warner Bros.' "He's Just Not That Into You."

Collins will next appear in "The Perfect Game" and "Crank 2" for Lionsgate, "Horsemen" for Mandate and J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" prequel for Paramount

WB chief apologises for 'Potter' delay

Many of you have written to me to express your disappointment in our moving “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to Summer 2009.

Please be assured that we share your love for Harry Potter and would certainly never do anything to hurt any of the films. Over the past 10 years, we have nurtured and protected each film, and the integrity of the books on which they are based, to the best of our ability.

The decision to move “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” was not taken lightly, and was never intended to upset our Harry Potter fans. We know you have built the series into what it is, and we thank you for your ongoing enthusiasm and support.

If I may offer a silver lining: there would have been a two year gap between “Half-Blood Prince” and the much anticipated first part of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” which opens in November 2010.

So although we have to wait a little longer for “Half-Blood Prince,” the wait from that until “Deathly Hallows” will be less than 18 months. I’m sorry to have disappointed you now, but if you hold on a littler longer, I believe it will be worth the wait.

Alan Horn
President, Chief Operating Officer

Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson and Lyndsy Fonseca are set to star in Kick-Ass, Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of the violent Mark Millar comic book, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Written by Millar and drawn by John Romita Jr., the Marvel Comics' Icon imprint book centers on a high school dweeb named Dave Lizewski who decides to become a superhero even though he has no athletic ability or coordination. Things change when he eventually runs into real bad guys with real weapons.

Johnson plays title character, while Fonseca plays the object of the teen's infatuation who believes Dave is gay. Cage is a former cop who wants to bring down a druglord and has trained his daughter (Chloe Moretz) to be a lethal weapon.

Christopher Mintz-Plasse is also in the cast.

A fall shoot in London and Toronto is planned.
