I think it's something to do with South Africa winning the rugby world cup.

Where are all the places people find out backstage photos/news and so on?

Cool :D

That must be this film "The Human Factor", it's also being directed by Clint Eastwood.

You'll have to get him to introduce you to his fellow actors ;)

New "Superman" to be a reboot?

The next Superman movie may reboot the comic book franchise, reports Variety.

Warner Bros is allegedly unhappy with the direction of 2006's Superman Returns, which opted to link to the earlier Christopher Reeve movies as opposed to updating the story.

Some in the studio are debating whether or not to rebrand the series as they did with Batman origin story Batman Begins.

"It might be better to start from scratch," an unnamed Warner Bros. executive said.

No writers have been hired for the next instalment, though Superman Returns helmer Bryan Singer may return should he agree on which to direction to take the DC Comics character.

Marvel took a similar creative approach with this summer's The Incredible Hulk, a film that chose to ignore Ang Lee's successful 2003 adaptation.

Not sure. Just know what he's done comics wise and he is the most passionate person on Superman I've ever seen.

'Poltergeist' remake grabs two scribes

Juliet Snowden and Stiles White are going into the light.

The "Boogeyman" scribes are rolling out more children's nightmares for MGM's planned remake of "Poltergeist," the 1982 horror film that made "they're here ..." the creepiest announcement ever voiced by a 6-year-old kneeling in front of a static-filled television.

The original "Poltergeist," directed by Tobe Hooper from a script co-written by Steven Spielberg, miraculously skirted an R rating despite its children-in-constant-peril, toy clown-strangling, face-peeling, skeleton-swimming medley of horrors. The MGM/UA release grossed $122 million worldwide and earned Oscar nominations for its ILM-designed visual effects, sound effects and score.

The story of a suburban home built over an Indian burial ground and thus inhabited by a nasty spook earned further cult status when two of the child actors in the movie died after the film's release. Two nerve-jangling sequels were produced.

Horror thrillers are in Snowden and White's blood. The writers, repped by ICM, co-wrote the $46 million-grossing 2005 release "Boogeyman" for Sam Raimi and Ghost House. They've had a hand in the never-hatching remake of "The Birds" for Universal. And they've co-written "Knowing," a Summit Entertainment release directed by Alex Proyas and starring Nicolas Cage, that is due in March.

Strong in line for 'Sherlock Holmes' villain role

Image

Guy Ritchie has lined up Mark Strong to play the villain in his reinvention of Sherlock Holmes.

Speaking at the BFI's Movie-Con weekend, Ritchie revealed that he will pit Strong, who appears in the director's upcoming gangster film RocknRolla, against Robert Downey Jr. in Sherlock Holmes.

Ritchie did not name the villain, but Holmes's best-known nemesis is Professor James Moriarty. The movie will take inspiration from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic novels and Lionel Wigram's upcoming comic book series.

Strong's previous screen credits include Syriana, Stardust, Sunshine and Revolver.

A Warner Bros. spokesperson declined to comment on the actor's involvement in the film.

Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes is scheduled to commence production in October for a 2010 release.

Del Toro, Jackson, Walsh and Boyens begin writing 'The Hobbit'

It's now official: The Lord of the Rings screenwriting team of Peter Jackson (pictured), Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens will join The Hobbit director Guillermo del Toro to pen the screenplay for the two planned Hobbit movies. Sources tell EW.com that the scribes' deals are all complete and they have already begun writing. (With shooting scheduled to begin Fall 2009, at the earliest, in New Zealand, the quartet better get busy!) The Hobbit will center on Frodo's uncle, Bilbo Baggins, and his initial discovery of the immensely-powerful ring. New Line and MGM plan to release the two films Christmas 2011 and Christmas 2012.

Vin Diesel Directing Fast and Furious Prequel

Vin Diesel, who stars in next Friday's Babylon A.D., told ComingSoon.net today that he is directing a 20-minute prequel to Fast and Furious, the fourth installment in the Universal Pictures franchise.

Diesel will star in the prequel along with Michelle Rodriguez reprising her role as Letty and Sung Kang returning as Han. Diesel didn't say how the prequel would premiere; it could be on a DVD, online, TV, etc.

The fourth movie is a sequel to the first installment, and though Diesel didn't elaborate, we assume this 20-minute prequel will tie-in some of the events from the second and third movies. Rodriguez appeared in the first movie, Sung Kang in the third, and Diesel in the first with a brief cameo in the third.

In the Justin Lin-directed Fast and Furious, opening June 5, 2009, fugitive ex-con Dom Toretto (Diesel) reignites his feud with agent Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker). But as they are forced to confront a shared enemy, Dom and Brian must give in to an uncertain new trust if they hope to outmanuever him.

RE:Dark Knight

And the fate of one of the characters at the end.

For those who were wondering. Harvey Dent died in Dark Knight. The script for the film has been released now and the following accompanies the scene at the end

"Dent lies at the bottom of the hole, his neck broken,DEAD."

I'd like to pretend Superman Returns didn't happen as well. Most boring two and a half hours of my life.

Child's Play Remake News

"...it’s a reboot, we are telling the origin story again, but beyond certain broad stroke details, it’s really quite a reinvention I would say," Mancini.

While Mancini confirms that the deal isn't quite official, everything seems to be falling into place for a 2010 release.

"I think, unless we completely screw it up, I think it has the potential to be scarier than the original based on the stuff we are talking about, which I know sounds very mysterious and abstract, but anyone in our position would say that at this point, but as you pointed out we do have the advantage of being the people who created the franchise in the first place."

Of course there are several ways to easily screw it up but Mancini confirms that the Chucky effects will continue to be done using puppetry and Brad Dourif will be back to provide the voice of Chucky.

"It’s almost like recasting Homer Simpson or something," he says. "If you could recast it, you would want the actor to sound kind of like it, but it would feel weird to just be completely different I think."

I hope that Superman does get a reboot. It really needs it. But then, how do you make Superman really interesting after so many films? He's officially the most boring well known superhero, because he can't be harmed by much and has all these convenient powers.

A child's play movie without Dourif would just not be as appealing. He has the perfect voice for the character and is an amazing actor in general anyway.

The problem with Superman, for me at least, is that strawberry floating costume. Tights, red pants and a strawberry floating cape!

Remember Edna Mode's speech in The Incredibles?

‘Wolverine’ In Turmoil As Director And Studio Chief Battle It Out On-Set?

“Watchmen” has hit a major legal bump, “Punisher: War Zone” seems to be falling victim to he-said-she-said rumors, and apparently, “Wolverine” is completing the trifecta of problems surrounding upcoming Hollywood comic adaptations.

A rumor reported by Hollywood Elsewhere claims that there has been some serious — and costly — bickering going on behind the scenes of 20th Century Fox’s upcoming “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” film between Director Gavin Hood and Fox Co-Chairman and CEO, Tom Rothman.

If the rumors are to be believed, Hood has set out to film a deservedly dark story about Wolverine’s brutal origin, however, Rothman wants a different, more kid-friendly approach to the possible tentpole film. The big story behind this has to do with a massive dark-toned set which — while Hood was away from filming recently — returned to find that the set had been completely repainted and redone…on Rothman’s orders.

Granted, the original post admits that the he’d received this news second hand, but Rothman apparently has a reputation for micromanagement, and is dedicated to getting Fox out of the red after a less-than-stellar summer movie line-up.

We know that the Punisher reports were false, but this & the Watchmen reports are very troubling.
