From all of the interviews leading up to the production and during the director had the right mindset. Mimic the Ennis run as much as possible. The studio seems to have seen it, sh*t a brick and then gone about trying to sanitize it as much as possible.

They've essentially thrown the director off the picture, sacked the composer with plans to give it an "all metal" soundtrack and proposed a new PG-13 rating.

News: Green Lantern script gets reviewed
And there are more rumours about Justice League…
14 Aug 2008 9:10am

Thanks to Iron Man proving that even lesser known superheroes can become box office champions, the studios are ramping up their efforts to get every hero up on screen.

Warners and DC have been plotting to put The Green Lantern – also (occasionally) known as Hal Jordan, a human charged with protecting Earth from alien nasties and blessed with a powerful piece of hand jewelry – into cinemas for years, but have never quite found the right combination of filmmakers and script. Now IESB.net is reporting that the latest draft, penned by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green, which Berlanti is planning to direct, seems to have gotten it right.

Comic book fans can go straight to the report, though everyone else might want to stop by Wikipedia first. Buried at the bottom of the piece, however, is word that Justice League might not be as healthy as recent reports, with The Dark Knight’s success leading the studio to apparently reconsider their idea of trying to force a different Batman upon us. The IESB.net lads speculate that JL director George Miller might be asked to step in for the sprawling, space battle-filled Lantern film, but for now all that is so much rumour…

Candyman Remake Buzz at Sony

Hear that? No, that's not the sound of bees. It's the buzz, buzz, buzzing of another remake. And this time it's Bernard Rose's Clive Barker adaptation Candyman.

Shock learned today Sony and the rights holder to the film franchise - which has spanned three installments - are mulling over plans to resurrect the hook-handed, pimp coat wearin' urban legend made famous by Tony Todd. It's all "early talks" (I was told one idea was to make the titular killer a Caucasian fella) with no writer or director attached at this time.

Candyman's screen life - based on Barker's short story The Forbidden - began in '92 at Sony. He subsequently bounced from Polygram then to Artisan for the sequels Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh and Candyman: Day of the Dead, respectively. The third chapter was released in '99.

The original film starred Virginia Madsen, Xander Berkeley and Kasi Lemmons.

Some can balk that it's too soon (or downright unnecessary) for a remake, but for Sony, it makes sense given the spate of remakes over the last five years dredging up revamped cinematic massacres featuring everyone from Leatherface, Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees to even Harry Warden. Candyman represents one established horror icon they have in their vaults they could potentially bank on (Richard Fenton from Prom Night is going to cut it).

You almost knew it was coming. A Candyman remake was inevitable. The gears are in motion and we'll keep you updated as we hear more.

Meet The Movie's Missing Watchman

So by now, you've watched, re-watched and dissected the Watchmen trailer frame-by-frame. But did you notice that, in all of the promotion that we've seen about Zach Snyder's adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' famous comic, one character in particular seems to be missing?

Comic Book Resources' Timothy Callahan is worried by the lack of information about the movie's Captain Metropolis. And if you're thinking "Captain who?" then you've not been reading closely enough:

Captain Metropolis doesn't even seem to have a role in the movie. He will apparently show up as a member of the Minutemen - we've seen a still photo from the film which confirms that - but there's no actor listed in the role on the Internet Movie Database. Obviously SOMEbody plays the role, but since he's not listed, it probably won't be much of one. Clearly a lesser role than he has in the comic book, because in the comic book, he's one of the most essential supporting characters in the story. He's a pretty big deal, with his pudgy figure and fancy jodhpurs.

I'll go out on a limb and say that Captain Metropolis is the glue that holds "Watchmen" together.

The interesting thing, Callahan suggests, is that while Metropolis provides a much-needed optimism and humanity to the comic, his back story - while created by Alan Moore - didn't really appear in the Watchmen series itself, but in a then-contemporary role playing game co-written by Moore than seems to be forgotten by fans and moviemakers alike.

Punisher Warzone not a PG-13?

Lexi is not off the film.

Lexi is still involved in the edit process.

The film is not (nor could it ever be) PG-13.

Today I saw a cut that ran 91 minutes.

Lexi did in fact get married.

Lexi is an incredibly talented director, and this film kicks major ass, as will be proven when it is released IN THEATRES DECEMBER 5th.

The film is most certainly not all exploding heads, but will reveal a great deal of Frank's persona and pain.

Tropic Thunder Topples Dark Knight
Well, it couldn't reign forever. The Dark Knight was finally toppled from the number one spot this weekend, with Ben Stiller's comedy Tropic Thunder taking the top slot with $37 million over five days.

The Dark Knight may have slipped, but it only went as far as number two, taking another $16.8 million. That's pushed it to $471.5 million domestically, making it the second highest grossing film of all time, after Titanic. Yes, it's surpassed Star Wars, which has earned $461 million in its various releases (that figure is not adjusted for inflation).

It was not a great week for Star Wars in general. As well as being pushed down the all-time rankings by Batman, the series' latest installment opened below expectations. The animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which has received generally negative reviews, took an underwhelming $15.5 million in its first weekend.

Other openers this weekend included the Kiefer Sutherland-starring horror Mirrors, which grabbed fourth place with $11.1 million, and Woody Allen's Vicky Christina Barcelona, which took $3.7 million on limited release.

It was meant to start shooting this year but constant rewrites of the script have kept delaying it. Last thing I heard about it was Richard Attenborough and Laura Dern were meant to be starring. There's still no director attached so I don't think we'll be seeing JP4 this year.

Hell no. WOULD NOT WANT.

I know there are some Joss Whedon fans here (I believe Hero is a big fan of Firefly especially) but this would not bode well. I honestly don't think he could do the dark storytelling of Batman the justice it has been done by Nolan.
