I think there should be a comic film news thread.

This is the comic film news thread.

I actually agree. It must be incredibly annoying to read the near-constant superhero film updates if you don't like them.

That said, I love them so I don't really care.

No there should not be a separate thread, there's a lot of talk about super hero films at the moment because one of the biggest super hero films of all time has just come out and a number of other big super hero films are in production. Give it 4 years and no one will be talking about marvel any more.

I'd make an effort to keep it afloat.

Same.

If there's no comic book movies in 4 years (doubt it), it can go back in here

This thread has been largely comic book centric for years now. Check the first couple pages and a decent wedge of the posts are about Punisher: Warzone, Watchmen and DC.

I'm inclined to agree with HM in this instance, as the comic adaptations do have a hell of a lot of information (and a shitload more rumours) being consistently revealed. I'm sticking with my previous standpoint of not considering it a lot of it to be worthwhile news though.

Marvel's got the film rights to Ghost Rider back.

Give Neveldine/Taylor another shot at it.

While he's exaggerating, all trends do die. I can see the comic book movie bubble bursting in the next half decade easily. It's already getting kinda over-saturated.

Indeed, I was just throwing in an off the cuff time frame but this current super hero thing is becoming too over saturated. The general public will start getting bored of them. There will be some flops and some sequels won't do as well as their predecessors. However what we will hopefully end up with is less but better. Marvel will obviously still be around in the movie game.

Only problem with that is everyone else wants to mimic their success, so the market is flooded with comic book movies. Won't be long before there are a load of DC movies set in the same universe with a ensemble movie somewhere down the line. I'm not saying the movies will be bad but Comic book movies aren't gonna stay as popular as they are now forever.

As a gaming related example, look at what the success of COD did to the FPS genre. And before that, 3D platformers.

Comic book movies come and go in cycles; you get a great new one, a few years of everyone getting into it, it dies down for a few years and then you get another smash hit.

I wonder if a poor turnout for JP 3D was a factor.

Also there's a trailer out for The World's End out there. I'd post it if I wasn't on my phone. Feels weird seeing my local boozers in there.
