Marvel Studios Has Blade, Iron Fist And Ms. Marvel Movies Somewhere In The Pipeline

Marvel have been kept pretty busy of throwing welcome home parties for their prodigal licenses. We only just learned that Blade, Ghost Rider and Daredevil are all definitely back under the big umbrella, and some of us are still celebrating.

With Phase 2 in full gear now, but still hanging mostly on the work of Phase 1, the company is clearly looking to further expand its universe and bring in new characters.

And if The Hollywood Reporter are to be believed, we already have a fairly good idea of who will be stepping into the Marvel Movieverse further down the line.

Marvel has a writing program it uses as a concept generator and has scripts for Blade and Ms. Marvel features, for example. Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Black Panther and The Runaways are other projects on the horizon.

We had heard about Doctor Strange, Ms. Marvel and Black Panther coming into the Movie Universe but to the best of our knowledge this is the first time we have heard anyone say anything about affirmative about Iron Fist and Blade.

Runaways was already scripted by Iron Man 3‘s Drew Pearce and was, for a while, set to go into production. Formally, it was postponed – I guess that’s fair. As Marvel keep working their way through the character catalogues, they’re inevitably going to come up again at some point.

Of course, turning on the ‘concept generator’ doesn’t mean that all or any of these films will get made, it just means that Marvel are looking into the possibilities. In fact, I would be hugely surprised if these were the only films going through conceptualisation right now.

We know to definitely expect Doctor Strange and, if I was a betting man I would say Black Panther and Ms. Marvel are more likely to get their own movies over Iron Fist and Blade. I’m sure it’s all going to be driven by a complex set of factors, though, including audience responses to each film already rolling out on the schedule.

Incidentally, the same story suggests that Marvel are looking to sign Robert Downey Jr. for a pair of Avengers sequels but not any more standalone Iron Man movies. Sounds about right. We’ll see what’s really going on there when the deal makes, though. It shouldn’t be too long now…

I think Phase 3 will end up being Ant-Man, Dr. Strange, Heroes for Hire and Black Panther with Ms. Marvel left to Avengers 3.

I don't think Ms Marvel is anywhere near as popular as Marvel thinks she is.

She'd be good as part of the team introduced in an Avengers film. Not good enough for her own movie, purely because of how messed up her origin story is for starters.

I still don't understand why Phase 2 has been entirely sequels. Surely they should be introducing at least some new heroes now so they can have them in Avengers 2 and not have to waste time explaining who they are or why they're there? That way they'd still have some big names left for single hero films in Phase 3...

There's going to be a Guardians of the Galaxy film but yeah another new franchise would have been nice.

They're still playing it pretty safe, despite Avengers. If they keep a level of success through until Avengers 2 and the GotG gamble pays off there will be a load more original films in Phase 3, maybe tent-poled with a Hulk film with any luck

There's a standalone film less in this phase too right? And the Guardians of the Galaxy isn't linked to Avengers 2 so basically that's 3 standalone films for A2? Also the TV series is likely to get picked up soon and I think that I read would likely air towards the end of the year so we could see various characters appear in that.
