New Terminator film coming next summer, according to Arnie. Tim Miller (of Deadpool fame) in the director's chair, with Emperor Cameron overseeing the whole thing in the shadows, probably wearing a hooded cloak. Both Arnie and Linda Hamilton will be appearing, but no sign of Michael Biehn.

It's also allegedly a direct sequel to T2, so will retcon T3, T4 and T5. And nothing of value was lost :toot:

If Cameron is still involved, then it will probably involve Skynet setting up at the bottom of the ocean and the human resistance using blue skinned avatars to go underwater to battle the machines.

David Chase Revives ‘The Sopranos’ With New Line Prequel Movie ‘The Many Saints Of Newark’

New Line better get this done! Sopranos for me is right up there in and amongst the first 2 Godfather films and Goodfellas.

edit: Oh wait. No James Gandolfini :(

The more and more I see of Ready Player One the more I just want it to go away.

I think of it as inspiring, no matter how bad a writer you are, you can still make a fortune.

Test screenings for Deadpool 2 are not going well at all. Looks like Ryan Reynolds getting the director of the first film fired and getting a writing credit was a bad move.

Spoilered for possible plot spoiler:

Ah bollocks. It's so hard for sleeper hits to be properly followed up on because there's usually so little understanding about what made it work.

The film was released by Paramount Pictures in the United States on February 23, 2018.

Due to a poorly received test screening, David Ellison, a financier at Paramount, became concerned that the film was "too intellectual" and "too complicated", and demanded changes to make it appeal to a wider audience, including making Portman's character more sympathetic and changing the ending. Producer Scott Rudin sided with Garland in his desire to not alter the film, defending the film and refusing to take notes. Rudin had final cut.

On December 7, 2017, it was announced that due to the clashes between Rudin and Ellison, and the shift in Paramount's leadership, a deal was struck with Netflix handling international distribution. According to this deal, Paramount will handle the US and China release, while Netflix will begin streaming the film in other territories 17 days later

Wow, a film maker with the balls to go up against a studio and keep a story as he intended it to be.
I was going to go to the cinema to see this and I'll certainly watch it on Netflix :D .

It's going to be interesting to see if this film is as complicated as the test screeners thought as it will be a refreshing change to see a challenging sci-fi film.

I just finished reading the books which are utterly bizarre but very very good. From what I've seen of the reviews, the film is faithful to that aspect of the books and is very good with it.

strawberry float test screenings. I don't know what sort of morons they hire for these things but from past experiences they're nearly always wrong. Fingers crossed the same is true for Deadpool.

I also find it odd when normally bright people say a film like Inception is overly complicated and hard to follow as it really isn't that complicated at all.
All it requires is to view the different layers of dream as separate but connected with a time differential. It's harder to explain but surely a pretty simple concept to grasp if you just give it more than 5 seconds of thought. I just think of a building where every level above is a layer of dream and time runs quicker. Time can run super quick at the top and thus thousands of years can pass for them when just seconds pass for us on the ground floor.
Likewise time travel films which people have problems with are also not hard to understand if you just put in a few seconds of thought and not just expect everything to be instantly obvious at all times.

It seems even a small amount of thinking about a film is beyond some at test screenings.

The problem from what I understand is that people are not told beforehand what the film will be and are intentionally chosen from a wide range of demographics. No doubt a lot of the Annihilation viewing reviews were glowing but there will have been a large number of people in those showings to whom Transformers is an intellectually stimulating franchise.

You can't force a square peg into a circular hole.

You could well be right.
I think a fairer system would be to at least ask for people who are familiar with the genre.
I for example would likely be a poor choice to test screen a Fast and Furious film as I'd just say it was gooseberry fool due to the frankly ridiculous driving and lack of any real legal penalty for it. The next Fast and Furious should just be the entire cast all in court for about 800 counts each of reckless driving and add another 500 years of prison time each for changing gear so much :x .

Fast and Furious is basically a fantasy series for chavs - it’s fine for what it is and actually is a great switch-off franchise I think.

I agree though FF 8 for me was the most OTT nonsense far fetched out of them all yes the others have plenty of OTT silly non believable stunts effects etc but FF8 i was watching it like WTF i am watching its so stupid.

But as you said its a switch off franchise and is why its so popular

FF8 needed more Jason Statham.

The only films that don't need more Jason Statham are Crank and Crank 2, and even they would probably have benefitted.

I was pretty disappointed by the last two F&F films but I can't wait for the Rock and Statham spin-off one.
