£11 is cheap

I loved Baby Driver. My fav movie this year so far. Great cast of actors, great soundtrack and it all worked really well

I look forward to the day when I'll get to explain to my daughter that no daddy won't take you to see the My Little Pony movie at the cinema like all of your friends because I'm not strawberry floating paying the robbing bastard prices for a shitty box of cold strawberry floating popcorn what am I strawberry floating made of money what a strawberry floating piss take and speaking of piss the seats strawberry floating stink of tramps why the strawberry float would I want to take you there to be sat among noisy people eating noisy smelly food that they've paid through the strawberry floating nose for, what a strawberry floating con it's only a film for christ sake, darling.

Went to see Baby Driver at the weekend, loved it, didn't know it was going to be musical throughout, from the trailer I thought it was just for the driving scenes. Was a nice twist and worked really well.

But i was surprised at how many people were actually buying food from the cinema (as people were discussing the a page back), it was in Camden so plenty of shops to buy food/drinks nearby, but people seemed happy to fork over £5 for popcorn and a bag of sweets... I just don't understand why when the tickets are £11 minimum (damn London).

Also lol at getting a 2 for £12 voucher when buying my tickets, then seeing it excludes Dunkirk, tight bastards. Will probably see Planet of the Apes then. Save Dunkirk for the IMAX.

I've been to the cinema a lot over the past month and noticed that the prices differ a lot depending on the film, day and time. Also if you go to Vue you can get free popcorn by completing their online survey. Just Google free popcorn Vue. You are supposed to buy a drink with it but 4 out of the 5 times I haven't been asked to. You can complete the survey as many times as you want. With the same email address and get a different voucher each time. As I say I've done this 5 times in the 6 ish weeks.

I usually go to Cineworld, but they just jacked up there prices and charged me £5 for a year of their "online booking discount", which was normally free.

I've discovered Odeon Wester Hailes are cheap as chips. £5.50 a ticket, any movie any time. Plus I can get 2 for 1 tickets with the Merkat Movies app.

Vue - £6.99
Odeon - £5
Cineworld - £6.10

Vue is a bit more expensive, but they have the best seats which all are recliners seats with no charge at all. Also, I have a CEA Card* which I can get one ticket for £0 so we can pay half for one ticket which is good thing for me, my family or friends who can share with me.

Cineworld is very good and I don't know why I always like their inside layout.

Odeon is worst of all and their seats are so cramp! It's difficult to watch if it's a full packed and the people's heads are always in the way in front of me.

Where are these big chain cinema's that people are getting tickets for £5-7? I live in Northampton it's not exactly an affluent area but both Vue and cinema here charge between £9 and £12 quid for an adult ticket depending on the time and day. Is it solely about the lack of an independent cinema pushing down prices?

Cardiff had Vue, Odeon, Cineworld and Premiere, a budget cinema. This is why Vue went down to £4 I think.

The differences in prices are amazing. I can get student discount prices due to a work deal but I went to see Dunkirk today and it still cost £8.95.

Cardiff has amazing cinema prices compared to Bristol. Premiere Cinema and Vue do films for £4. I saw Spiderman at Showcase Bristol Cinema de Lux last weekend and it cost £10.50...

Shin Godzilla (2016) is getting a showing at Odeon Metro Centre on Thursday August 10th at 8.15pm. An excellent Godzilla movie with the most striking Godzilla design for years. Very hard movie to see as licensing issues means few Godzilla movies make it to the UK.
