There is such a thing as English Mustard?

Dijon mustard with honey is one of the finest things on earth.

Love the stuff, the nicest I've had was some green mustard (made with green peppercorns) whilst in France, it was spicy like English mustard but tasted so much better, went nicely on rare steak.

I like Horseradish too.

Oh yes, it has a bigger kick than most other mustard varieties.

Best sauce there is, followed closely by a good Tartare sauce.

Can't belive the poll reveals it to be a bit marmite.

I think some people are confusing French mustard with French's mustard, the latter being an American mustard with a misleading name.

French mustard is brown and not as good as English mustard.

American mustard is yellow and very mild, so mild in fact that it's not really a mustard.

English mustard is a slightly darker shade of yellow and is sublime.

English Full Grain FTW. Perfect in Cheese sauce or Mash Potato. Can't beat a bit of Mustard Mash with some bangers.

I tried not to reply but I had to.

WTF are you talking about? There are many different kinds of French mustard, with different tastes, smooth ones and grainy ones, mild ones and spicy ones.

There is a world outside your local supermarket, you know.
