Bit of a sneak preview there earlier ( )...if you didn't see it, here's the full thing.

August 2007 - Split with gf. She moves out...things are amicable. She wanted to split more than me, but I was complicit.

Sept 2007 - Feb 2008 - Things are pretty rough, kind of get back together (possibly just for sex) then split again.

Feb 2008 - June 2008 - Happy times, lots of friends, drinking, flirting, going out...etc.

July 2008 - Sept 2008 - Meet someone. Someone reeeeealllly nice who I've loads in common with. She's funny, good in bed, happier times. Lives 60 miles away though, love going to see her. She's fab.

Great eh? Not so complicated.

Until tonight. :fp:

Kind of got it on with the ex tonight. I don't know how I feel....she says she can't stop thinking about me blah blah...and to be honest, I've never really let her go but I think it's cos we spent 10 yrs together (and a kid!)...obviously there's more to it, mostly to do with how much we've both changed over the last year and we did talk about that. We've both changed so much...but in a good way. So....GRCade...what the strawberry float do I do here?

If there's a poll, will you do what that poll says?

Ha, I don't know - it's quite a big deal to put in the hands of you lot. I just knew you'd all make me laugh when all I want to do is scream alot. I don't like two timing, but it didn't feel like I was.

I did say to her afterwards "So....friends do do that sort of thing...right?"

If I've learnt anything from Fable 2 it's this. Keep them both assuming they are living in different areas. 60 miles away you say? Sounds safe. It's called having your cake and strawberry floating it. Or something. Think I may be getting my sayings a little confused.

Never go back dude. Always keep going forward. You split up for a reason and that time has passed. My ex(who I have two kids with) tried to get back together with me after I met my wife but despite my feelings getting confused I knew all I needed to know about my ex so wanted to see how things went with my now wife.

Goddamnit.

Well... ah strawberry float it I don't know, play them both along for six months then write the resulting drama into a bestselling novel/film.

You might lose them both but you'll be filthy rich.

Who do you want to be with? New girl you really like (and I assume could fall for, given time) but who lives ages away, or old flame with megahistory, child and lingering feelings? This is all about you, strawberry float the world, be selfish for once in your life. :P

But yeah, stick with the new one, this old one could do the same thing to you again.

Nah, I haven't cheated on anyone.

...Yet. You'll hear about it if I ever do. NGE, don't say anything to the other one and just see how it plays out.

Ok NGE here is what you need to do.

Get them both in the same room and then announce that they have both been entered into..

NGE's Eliminator

Set them a task and the loser is eliminated. The winner gets you as a prize.

It's the only way to be sure.

Depends who you want more. If you've changed, that affects things. I've changed a huge amount in the last year, and that's after leaving uni. Grown up a lot and become (even) more confident (I just really don't give a gooseberry fool about what anyone thinks of me other than my mates), anyway...

It's not as if you're truly committed to either of them, so you can sort of take your pick, but you'd have to let the new girl down slowly.

When you say you've both changed so much, does that mean shes been sleeping around and learning new tricks?

Hot damn, that's some good advice.

Thing is...we kind of split amidst a crazy whirlwind of unhappiness, both of us were just taking each other for granted and it really needed something big for us to see how much we love each other. But on some level I think you're right. There's probably lots of details you lot are missing here, like...

a) She might just be upset that I'm with someone and is jealous? Not likely, it's not her style
b) How I might just be thinking how happy my daughter would be if me and the ex got back together...it gets mentioned alot.
c) How I've actually considered saying the 'L' word to this new girl recently. No...not Lesbian-Action...the other 'L' word.

Man, I wish I hadn't done what I did tonight.

Why did you split up in the first place, out of interest? And how exactly have you changed, and what difference would that make to any potential relationship with your ex?

You need to discuss with her how she feels about all this, and that might make your decision a little easier. Alternatively, if you ignore all other outside factors, your gut will probably tell you the way to go. Obviously your kid's a consideration, but would it be of great benefit to her if you got back with your ex, or do you still see plenty of her now and she accepts that her parents aren't together?
