Aren't they a bit gooseberry fool though?

The important thing is that the analogue stick on the controller is just right and that they have Super Mario 64 and Excitebike 64 on it.

For nostalgia sake would you want the stardard 3 prong controllers or would you rather they put a revised modern version of the controller included like the Brawler 64?

Personally I hate the N64 controllers, if it all works like the mini SNES and it launches with N64 pads then I'll be using Wii classic controllers.

I would absolutely prefer to have a version of the original controller, as long as the issue with the analogue stick is resolved.

I like the original controller and I suspect that, as Nintendo owns that design, they'll stick with it. I am keen to try that new Brawler controller out on my N64, though!

It'd be cool to see Robotron 64 and Road Rash 64 included; they suffered from being perceived as "too old" at the time of release but they both have tons of playability that still shines through today.

The games were designed around that controller.

Super Mario 64 is a better game when played on an N64 controller.

Personally I don't mind the original controller. It's a bit weird to go baclk too at first but didn't take me too long to readjust.

Why would you release a retro console, a genre of products that exist explicitly to engender nostalgia, but change something so core to the original design? It has to be original 3-pronged controller.

The controller is very subjective in this case. Although there are many who like it there are just as many if not more who hate it and may be put off buying this product because of it.

I loved the controller so would love to have it back if they do bring out an N64 mini (which now we have the PlayStation classic is probably likely). Only problem is I'd love to see some of Rare's games on it, Banjo Kazooie/Tooie, Goldeneye (probably unlikely on that one though), Diddy Kong Racing was Rare as well wasn't it?

You'd have to guess the likes of Mario 64, Mario Kart 64 and one of OoT/MM would be on there (or hopefully both!), Paper Mario, maybe even Animal Crossing as that started life on the N64 in Japan.

I know the original controller is divisive and I don't disagree with your point, but as I said the market for these miniaturised retro console banks on nostalgia. The look of the product is a selling point, as is the experience of using similar controls, and changing that could put off casual purchasers.

Loved the original controller and I agree that there's no point in releasing a nostalgia led product such as this and then changing it. It's such a fundamental part of the N64 design.

I've got nothing to support this, but Nintendo and MS have been getting on quite well recently, so I really wouldn't be surprised to see them come to some agreement regarding the Rare games. Most importantly that might include the Goldeneye remake they had working. To be honest I actually half-expected an announcement at E3.

This is true and personally I would hate for it to not have the original controller. Undoubtedly there will be 3rd party options from the likes of 8bitdo which will cater for people who are not fans.

I tend to use mine most of the time when playing N64 these days. I'm not sure if it's really because I prefer it or if it's just because my hands are now too used to that kind of controller design.

I think it's well worth getting but nothing life changing if you're already happy with the N64 controllers you have. It does reduce the risk of your old N64 controllers dying though.

Given Rare's prevalence in the lists of best N64 games(Goldeneye, PD, Banjo, DKR, DK64, Blast Corps, etc etc) I'd be surprised and disappointed not to see them well represented on the N64 Classic Mini.

I was unable to complete Shadowman but I greatly enjoyed what I did play through. I think I got lost somewhere around the Asylum Playrooms.
