I know that isn't the final N64 list, but what do Nintendo have against Pilotwings? It was a glaring omission from the SNES Mini,

It is the final list Moggy. Mafro confirmed it on the previous page.

This would interest me and I am guessing that there is no need to beg for RARE games as they would easily be imported as ROMS?

If you extend this logic there is no need to hope for the mini console at all as you can just get four USB N64 controllers for a fraction of the price of the potential console and play all the games on a PC as ROMs.

My point is that that is daft, by the way.

Anyway, my wish list.

in-house Nintendo classics - I want these 17 as a minimum:

Super Mario 64
Ocarina of Time
Mario Kart 64
Pilotwings
Lylat Wars
Super Smash Bros.
Majora's Mask
Wave Race 64
1080 Snowboarding
F-Zero X
Mario Golf
Mario Tennis
Yoshi's Story
Paper Mario
Pokemon Stadium 1 or 2
Mario Party 1 or 2
Pokemon Snap

If we let our imaginations run riot, and assume that any potential hurdles with licenses, intellectual properties, and developers now owned by Nintendo's competitors, can be overcome, then we might even be looking at these games too. So this is my "if only" list:

Banjo-Kazooie
Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon
Goldeneye 007
Perfect Dark
ISS 64 / 98 / 2000
Resident Evil 2
SpaceStation Silicon Valley
Rocket: Robot on Wheels
Diddy Kong Racing
Star Wars Rogue Squadron
Snowboard Kids
Jet Force Gemini
Sin and Punishment
WWF No Mercy
Star Wars Episode I: Racer
Blast Corps
Donkey Kong 64
Conker's Bad Fur Day

That's another 18 brilliant games.
What a (mini) console this could be.

I think we will see the Rare games on there, neither Microsoft or Nintendo really see each other as direct competitors, Rare developed games for the DS after they were bought by Microsoft and Nintendo are happy to let Minecraft play nice with other consoles and PCs. All they need to do for the Rare developed games is work out a royalty fee, I cant see there being a huge problem outside of that, Goldeneye being the obvious exception of course.

Too many games on these things kills my lust to play any of them. I'd rather have a very select offering than every good game that ever came out on the console. I won't be hacking this if I get one, I've learned my lesson.

I don't really care what games it comes with if it's hackable. Do you think it would ship with more than 1 controller? A big part of the N64 was local multiplayer, but the controllers will take up a lot of space and will probably be quite costly

The 2 controllers in the SNES was a surprise but I could see them putting 2 in this one as well and making more available to buy seperately. The controllers probably dont cost that much, they are still wired, have no rumble built in etc so theyre pretty basic things.

Im more interested to see what they do with the controllers and peripherals, rather than how many of them they put in the box. Would they update the anaologue stick mechanism? The original one wore away in no time and was a very unusual way of doing analogue, updating it to use a better analogue system would be cool. But then what about the connection? Do you keep it the same and the mini NES and SNES and therefore compatible with the Wii and Wii U, or do you make the connection the same as the original N64 so people can use the updated pad with their original machine. What about rumble paks and memory paks? Will they make new ones available for sale or rely on people having that stuff lying around?

I can see any "new" controllers they release having integrated memory and Rumble paks. I would imagine they don't want to get too bogged down in peripherals for these mini consoles beyond the cable extensions and additional pads.

N64 emulation is still pretty naff on PC really so the N64 mini makes the most sense of any mini console so far even if you just plan to hack it and dump Roms on it.

My hype for this is raised after watching the MJR Video on the N64 HDMI Mod, if this thing gets announced and the quality is like in this video, I'm in no matter what the games included. :toot:

I would *love* one of those. I have a dream of playing my N64 carts with that kind of picture quality.

Maybe because games from that era have mostly aged terribly and they're best left alone.

I dunno, I'd be pretty excited for an N64 mini whilst the SNES mini wasn't massively attractive to me personally.

Super Mario 64, F-Zero X, Paper Mario, Wave Race 64, Starfox, Kart 64; I don't have to work too hard to get excited for them.

And if legal / rights hurdles were resolved so that Rare's hits could be included... oh my!

I'd probably play an N64 mini more than my SNES mini.
