I've never played Superman 64 though, so maybe they just made that up. They probably made the whole SUperman 64 game up.

I paid £45 for Superman 64 8-)

The DC fanboy in me refused to believe it was as bad as N64 magazine had made out. I was right though, it was worse.

Took it back three days later.

The best part of this game is surely the 'X-Ray vision', which is just the camera glitching when you run next to a wall. And they called it a feature :lol:

I started buying N64 Magazine when it rolled around to issue 23, and subscribed until the end of NGC. Unfortunately due to space issues I got rid of all of them when we moved and now I only have a few issues left which I couldn't part with.

I have 23, 24, 27, 28, 36 & 42.

Started with 12, and never renewed my sub after issue 104 or so. A few years ago I tracked down issues 1-11 thanks to a couple folks on here (or old GR, can't remember).

N64 Magazine. :wub:

Didn't really buy it on a regular basis. But when it changed to NGC I bought it each month (I don't know whay I didn't subscribe and save some money). Brilliant magazine. A real sense that the staff were all having a great time making it each month. And I'd generally get a little bit upset whenever one of the team would leave.

I get NGamer every month (actually subscribed to this one from the start) and love it just as much as NGC. It has the same feel to it and is generally funny. It pains me to see the sales so low. Especially when compared to the utter gooseberry fool that is ONM. When will the kids learn, official doesn't mean best. Not by a longshot.

It doesn't help that, I think for the first time ever, the official magazine is cheaper than the unofficial. Plus official Nintendo tends to have better gifts attached.

I have fond memories of those covers, i think i spent a large amount of time looking at them, as I'd pick up that month's issue for the 70th time that week and look through it again. Some of those issues were packed with so many new games to look at and wish I could play. It replaced the Argos catalogue in a way. The Mario Tennis one, any of the Perfect Dark ones, the Turok 2 review one. I started with the 1998 Zelda cover and I've still got most of the issues. I remember the Donkey Kong 64 review issue was packed with more reviews of [good] games than I can remember any issue of a magazine. The coverage of both Ocarina of Time and Perfect Dark filled most of the magazine's run.

I like that looking back at the covers now, and reading stuff like 'The World's first EVER review!' and 'Better than Goldeneye?' alongside TUROK 2 and then another 'Better than Goldeneye!' alongside Perfect Dark, and another 'Goldeneye-beating brilliance!' and PERFECT DARK - '65 pics you've NEVER seen before' it all reads quite funny.

Reading a magazine like that, it felt like the best job in the world was covering all those new games or being involved in their creation at Rareware.

I think Paul does still play in a band, yes.

Mark left Ninty a while back. He now works for a posh museum.

I'm sure Andrea went on to work for a newspaper in the Bath area.

It's only the idiots who stay with games that don't get on in life. I'm permanently trapped at 14 years old!

James Ashton got his car licence, right? And the psycho doctor guy still writes for NGamer. Tim Weaver and Mim I saw in some photos someone posted on here. Jonatan Davies? Does Markus Hawkins still exist? I remember when he became ed, he kind of popped out of nowhere and managed to stay probably longer than any other ed, IIRC. If you look through old issues carefully, though, his name did already appear every once in a while. :shifty:

Nah, it's fine.

I speak to Jes quite often and, as far as I know, he's currently doing stuff for Future. Their Comic Heroes mag is edited by him and he recently did the SFX Anime special that's in the shops at the mo.

Haven't seen James for years but I think he's now in London. Not sure if he still works for Future, though.

Martin's still on NGamer.

Jonathan runs/co-owns Games Press, a resource site for journalists.

Marcus has been at Future for ages and has worked on loads of mags but I think he does web stuff now.

For my sins I'm still at Rare (please don't ask me about it, I may start to whimper) and yes we're still doing dinkybox. I did the first issue of the comic last year with the help of some other Rare concept artists. We sold out of the issues we had printed but you can still look at it online for free here - http://issuu.com/smartbomb/docs/smartbomb01 . We're doing a second issue but it'll be a little while yet.

One day I'll have a normal job.
