Or more to the point, keeping them the hell out of the house. I've just encountered a huge Spider in the dark which was nearly the size of my fist which was the final straw for me. I'm thinking of getting one of these but do any of you guys have(or have had) any problems with Spiders in your house, if so have you done anything to get rid of them?

Seriously the only thing i'm scared of more than Spiders are Wasps/Hornets :|

The prospect of moving away to university means I'm going to have to make friends with a housemate who isn't afraid of spiders.

I bet that's actually a hideously ironic product that attracts them.

Oh and experts say spiders are a sign of a healthy house. Whatever that means. Still, they get rid of useless insects at least.

We had one of those "bigasafist" ones in the bath not long ago. I hate them, I have at least two smaller ones in my room but I can never catch them.

Found one under a towel last week and killed it though 8-)

I've had something similar for the last couple of summers. Definitely fewer spiders in the house, presumably as a result of the device, but you still get the occasional bastard. Worth getting, but don't go thinking that you'll never again be confronted by one of the hideous abominations.

Usually I'm the one that has to get rid of them (and moths, wasps and bees). The back up plan is the cat, she's usually pretty good at catching them.

Please do not post this in the "No Context" thread

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad to see that it does have an effect, but as you say there's no way it'll get rid of all of them but its good to see that it helps.

How many did you have around the house?

I'm more worried about bastard flies. They are getting in somehow and I cant work out how. Some propper big bastards too.

I'm thinking of getting a solar powered fly zapper. If I cant treat the cause I may aswell kill some gooseberry fool.

We've got something like that, which is meant to repel rats, which has worked, and worked for spiders too. I didn't see a spider in the house for months. I've now started to see them again though... Maybe they get used to the frequency of the wave or whatever it is that gets emitted?

For £23 you can't go wrong really.

Edit - well, you can. But go for it.

Just the one, on the landing, to keep them out of my bedroom - the worst place to have a spider, IMO.

I might get another one to put downstairs, to hopefully stop them coming in through the front door (they can be quite polite, at times).

I tried, but I think I used the wrong kind of seed.
