Yes, what Jay said.

I believe you'll still get texts if other iPhone users send them through iMessage, so if you really don't want any, turn iMessage off too. If you just don't want to incur costs of receiving texts, no need to worry.

If you want to be absolutely double-safe, you could turn off cellular data and data roaming too.

While these suggestions will work, it's overkill. I travel with work abroad regularly and the simple way is to turn off roaming data and dont answer the phone when it rings. Change your voicemail message to say you are abroad and ask people to contact you via some form that avoids the cellular network. You are not charged if you don't answer the phone or just receive texts. The rationale being you have no control over who phones or texts you. IMessage goes solely over the data networks so you can message away once on wifi.

I wouldn't say you are abroad on voicemail in case they know where you live and ransack your place  :fp:

Interesting thought.

I think locking the doors and windows to the house shouldn't make that a concern though.

Its the glass in the windows that they usually smash that is the issue.

I'd be genuinely interested to know what proportion of properties aren't double glazed these days. It's cheap to do now after all. I suspect it's pretty low and hence for most people just locking the door is fine.

I don't recommend you consider burglary as a career. Well I wouldn't recommend it for anyone, but I especially wouldn't recommend it for you.

Mrs Pax is wrong. I obtained my 2:1 degree in Burglary and Window Smashing in 2006. I decided that taking the Masters was unnecessary and so got straight out into the field. After leaving the field, I snuck up on the houses and robbed the gooseberry fool out of them. 8 years later and I am still running my own business and have patented several brick throwing techniques.

It’s just so rewarding.

Did you in the course of your degree learn how to smash double glazing?

Two bricks. You always have to double brick in order to get through double glazing. Just common sense really.
