Is Detectorists meant to be much cop? I'm sure someone said it was but first episode was pretty mediocre?

I think it's a very hard show to like.

Is it just a bad first episode (lots of shows have them) or is it indicative?

I don't think it's ever really laugh out loud funny. It's more of a groove you get into with the show, it has it's own pace that just kind of meanders along (very much like the music). You get to know the characters and really come to like them because they seem so rounded, not just handy stereotypes to fit a joke to.

As Rex says it's not a usual sort of comedy, it's gentle and more to do with how much you end up caring for the characters.

It's not going to be for everyone but I thought it was wonderful.

First ep 15 minutes put me off too, but I saw the positive replies it got on here and added it to my watch list. I have no doubt I will get the urge to watch it at some point... no doubt after it's been taken off Netflix.

Still enjoying Rurouni Kenshin :toot:  Enjoying it so much that I get through 2 or 3 eps a day!

I forgot about Larry and his invisible dogs, though I'm not sure I should be laughing quite that hard about someone with Alzheimer's.

That she is.

Ive started watching it too. Its really good.

Is it strange that I prefer pale skin, white hair Rose to normal Rose?

No, I totally agree.

It's similar to how Emilia Clarke looks more attractive as Daenerys than she normally looks.

Maybe I just have a thing for pale, petite women with platinum blonde hair.

There was absolutely no need to kill her off, I thought.

Anyone else watched Glow then? Finished it all on Friday, it's excellent.

I've added it to the ever increasing list of gooseberry fool I want to watch. There aren't enough hours in the damn week.
