A Series of Unfortunate Events was great. I've rewatched the ending countless times since.

I don't understand how he works. He's a skeleton. But he's also really buff. And he's also incredibly camp.

Its a book based on the real-life exorcisms performed by an Irish priest. The book...well. Let me put it this way, of 2 friends i loaned it to, neither could finish it because it scared the piss out of them. My sister read it and got so obsessed with it she essentially "got religion" after it. The book was genuinely terrifying. If this is as good as the book, itll be well worth watching. Namely because the book isnt some generic "Exorcism of Emily Rose" gooseberry fool where houses explode from supernatural energy and gooseberry fool.

Added.

Will get the book regardless of what I think of the film. Ta for the heads-up.

Stuff I just added now:

He-Man
Let the Right One In
The NSU-Complex (about the neo-Nazi murderers who mostly got away with it a few years back)
Johnny Guitar :toot:
Son of Saul (It's set in the Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II, and follows a day-and-a-half in the life of Saul Ausländer, a Hungarian member of the Sonderkommando.)
Gandhi
Young Frankenstein

Isn't it different for each person? The star rating is supposed to be a prediction based on your tastes, isn't it? It's showing 2 1/2 stars for me.

That's how it works?! That's pretty cool actually. Though I'd also like to see a traditional rating system, maybe one linked to Rotten Tomatoes, etc.

Yup. I'm not sure how the algorithm works, but it's worryingly accurate, to the point I'm pretty willing to watch anything with a high star rating, even if I've never heard of it before. My girlfriend and I have different user profiles on the same account and the star ratings we get for the same shows are different:

An overall rating system would be nice, but equally, I don't care if thousands of people love The Crown, if they can predict I'll hate it because I already rated "Down With The Monarchy 2: Electric Guillotine Boogaloo" 5 stars, and other people who've also rated that 5 starts gave The Crown 0 Stars, those are the opinions I care about.

For example. :shifty:

Holt gooseberry fool! I have proof of Netflix *knowing* *me* better than I know myself: Netflix is chock full of stand-up shows, right? The vast majority of them are rated 2* or below for me. (Not an exaggeration.) I have no idea why that is the case, I mean it's not as though I've seen very many stand-ups on there and then rated them. Anyway! I avoided them thinking they were poorly rated in general, but then one day I spot a Jim Gaffigan show on there and it was very highly rated. Watched it. I loved it. I've since seen all his available shows on there, including the latest one, Cinco, and am loving it as well. How did Netflix know I would like him?! I hadn't seen him in anything else. The first time I had even *heard* of him was the news about Fargo season 3.

But anyway, now that I know that the ratings are not general scores, but instead are possibly a very good guess on what I like based upon science/voodoo, I think I'm gonna go through Netflix again and give stuff I wrote off another chance.

I never knew that about the ratings, that's really interesting. And explains why some shows that I have no interest in but are critically acclaimed are rated so low when I see at them.

Just watched Hostage to the Devil and it was pretty interesting, to see both view points and learn more about exorcism.

Just started watching Santa Clarita Diet and it's pretty funny.

It's like iZombie but without the weekly murder and pretty funny.
