Finished watching Castlevania.

It's pretty cool. Gets better as it goes along. Has some cheesy videogame-like moments - but they work.

I went into watching this show pretty blind. Didn't know it'd have an adult slant. Yeah, it makes sense with the dark themes but the game series has been pretty kid-friendly. It was a pleasant surprise.

Don't mind so much about it being only 4 episodes because apparently I don't have to wait too long for more. 8 episodes in the summer. Hope the quality is maintained or even improved as I like what I've seen so far. Not just a good videogame adaption, but for one of my favourite series.

Just watched the new Derren Brown thing, PUSH. Much like a lot of his big experiments I enjoy most of it and seeing how he persuades/influences but can't help but feel the payoffs are all bullshit and feel that I would never end up that way

Yeah same. He's primarily a magician and uses sleight of hand and the like, but misdirects by claiming to use psychology. So when he does these hourlong shows on pure psychological influence I find it very hard to believe any of it.

There's one particular episode of his old ch4 show that always stuck with me, and that's when he's trying to teach an old lady to win a poker game. Just before the game he tests her to see if she's learnt his psychic ability and can split the pack into red and black with the cards face down. This is actually a very simple and classic card trick called "out of this world" and so proves she hasn't actually learnt anything and so the actually poker game also must be rigged or setup.

In this case of "Push" I think maybe
the guy we see that didn't go through with it is fairly genuine, but the other three at the end were setup/actors to add some authenticity ("it usually works just not for this guy")

Binged watched Borderliner over the weekend.
It's an 8 episode Norwegian mystery/thriller about a police officer trying to cover up a crime while his colleagues are investigating. Has some Breaking Bad and Line of Duty vibes but isn't as loud as either of those shows.

Well worth watching!

Yeah
Who's agreeing to be on TV being shown that they're willing to push someone to their death for no reason?

I just watched Annihilation and I liked it.

Sure, it was a tad odd a slightly confusing I suppose but a few seconds of thought and it all makes sense.
I'd give it a 9/10.

It's left open for sequels and I can see where they will go and I hope they have the balls to make them.

1x07 is on there now but Netflix UK is airing it one week behind America so 8 won't go on there until next week.

Is it ? I'll check again. It used to pop up on the Tuesday but i guess it is being shunted around by the US TV network.

I really enjoyed it. I did get feeling they took insperation from Stalker without it shitting on Tarkovsky classic. Portman played her role well and it's always a pleasure to watch Benedict Wong.

I watched Ricky Gervais' new standup. If you like his others then it's more of then same and worth a watch. Tries to be shocking and offensive, but isn't really. The bit with the dead baby made me chuckle

Based on George R. R. Martin's novella and set in the future on the eve of Earth's destruction, a crew of explorers journey on the most advanced ship in the galaxy, The Nightflyer, to intercept an alien spacecraft. One that might just hold the key to their survival.

Watched Annihilation the other week, thought it was very good, pacing was a little off in bits, until the final scene that felt like an arts/drama students final piece.

Watched Veronica on Monday, really enjoyed it. Best horror film I've seen in a while. Read up on the story it is 'loosely' based on as well after. Made for interesting reading.
