I now have access to US Netflix via a VPN, I can't remember what it's called, but it's in a bundle on Humble Bundle.

Nice. Which one is it? I'm a complete noob at these kind of things.

Go on humble bundle and check out the life hacker bundle. The VPN is Cyberghost, it's normally a few dollars a month but in that bundle it's £6 odd for the year.

Nevermind, it's not working now

Finished Narcos S2 last night, so good.

Massive spoilers ahead
I can't see this being anywhere near as good if they make S3 about the guys who've replaced Pablo, I'm happy for it to finish completely now Pablo is dead

Ooooo, The Expanse is now on Netflix, if you missed it previously I would recommend giving it a watch.

On to the final ep of Jessica Jones. I ended up enjoying it, mostly. It took a few eps more to get interesting than Daredevil did, but it's entertaining enough even if it isn't on the same level as that show.
So many little things feel *off* about it, from delivery of lines, to how characters respond in certain situations. Even one of the biggest revelations towards the end of the series feels bizarre due to the fact the reveal was obvious early on in the series, yet Jessica only realises the same very late on, and that despite the fact she has good recall of the incident that first time it happened.

Ta for the heads up on that.

The first 5 minutes suggest Total Recall 2 (a sequel to the good one, not the recent shitty one), would I be far from the mark?

Kind of. You could say that parts are similar except there are 4 parties involved in this story and no secret alien machine on Mars.

If you enjoy the series I would recommender the books as well.

I've put the series on hold for now having just bought the first book. The story, setting, stuff interests me a lot more than Thomas Jane's mugging to camera. Dominique Tipper though :datass:

She is a fine looking lady.

The series also covers the first part of book two so you may need to read that as well.

That's fine, I usually crave the sort of detail you only get in books with these kinds of things.

Yet oddly ends with an event roughly 3/4 through book 1

I've just finished the most recent book, next one is out in december so I'm reading The Saga of Seven Suns series again (would love a TV/Film adaptation of it) to fill the sci-fi space opera shaped void in the meantime.

Out of interest, have you read any (or indeed all) of Peter F Hamilton's books? If not, I'd highly recommend all of them.

The Night's Dawn Trilogy or The Commonwealth Saga would probably be the place to start, but Great North Road is a good standalone novel, or the Greg Mandel books for something more down to earth.

Really they are all excellent.

I've been meaning to read his books for ages now but I can't decide which one to start with.

I picked up The Abyss Beyond Dreams for 99p recently but I think it's set between two existing trilogies/series so am reluctant to read it first.

Its the first book of two, but the 3rd series set in that Universe and it has recurring characters, so yeah probably not the best place to start.

It really depends on what you want to read, if you don't mind a bit of horror (but not really) mixed in with your Sci-Fi then start with The Reality Dysfunction, which is the first book in the Night's Dawn Trilogy.

Pandora's Star is the first book in the Commonwealth Saga and the first book set in that universe.

If you want a stand alone book to see if you like his style then go with Great North Road.

Its worth noting that all these books are rather long...but like I said they are all excellent.

Worf and Data are utterly hilarious at times.

And thanks for the book suggestions HSH.
