The first 5 minutes suggest Total Recall 2 (a sequel to the good one, not the recent shitty one), would I be far from the mark?

I have been watching this and quite enjoying it after discovering it completely by accident. I don't find the story or characters particularly strong, although the plot is kind of growing on me, but mainly it is extremely well done in terms of attempting to realistically portray space travel, zero gravity and generally being hard sci-fi. For example, I love how the 'artificial gravity' on the ships is actually just a constant 1G of acceleration/deceleration and when a ship stops it goes. I have not seen a space series so dedicated to obeying the laws of physics before.

That was something that impressed me. They really are making an effort to make things as close to reality as they can, it's also part of the books as well. The characters were quite slow to establish themselves but if they do continue with the books then in season two we will see more of Alex and Amos.

I liked the choice of actress for Avasarala, she plays the part very well.

Don't know if it has been asked in here before but:

How do I stop the main screen from autoplaying the trailer/add for their own videos?

All I get is a dumb ass video with a smug as gooseberry fool Paul Blart and full audio

It starting to piss me off.

Edit: I just ad blocked it :fp:

This post is exempt from the No Context Thread.

I just watched the first season of Hannibal and enjoyed it quite a lot. That Caroline Dhavernas is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. Ever. Properly smitten here.

She was absolutely brilliant in Wonderfalls which is the absolute epitome of a one season wonder show.

Mobile/tablet only unfortunately it seems with a limited selection. Hopefully they expand it in the future.

This is something that is probably only of interest to me but Last Chance to See is now on Netflix. Anything that combines natural history, Stephen Fry and a smidgeon of Douglas Adams is fine by me.

Talking of Douglas Adams, I've just watched the first episode of the new Netflix Dirk Gently.

Was there actually *any* detective-ing in there at all? The guy playing Dirk seems to be channeling Matt Smith's Doctor for the most part... It's a lot more bloodthirsty than I remember the books being, too.

I appreciated the reference to his past cases, though.

The Stephen Mangan series seemed to do Dirk a lot better. Lots of individual cases instead of what I imagine is going to be a multi-episode arc

I didn't know Netflix were making Dirk Gently, will have to check it out as I love those books.

In other news, season 2 of the Detectorists has been added. It's like they're just adding content purely for me these days!

They have Frankie Adams playing Bobby in season 2 of The Expanse. I can dig it, 6ft tall New Zealander of Samoan decent.

I just hope she can act and isn't just cast because of she looks how Bobby is described.

Dirk Gently was pretty gosh darn good - not outstanding but comfortable and engaging.

Understand it's nothing like the books - and doesn't try to be as they think trying to ape Adams would be off and a mish mash of ideas.
