Tricky.... real tricky. Some parts of my course are working well whilst a few I have removed due to being ropey. I'm in the stage of trying to gel these separate parts together and I need to create a magic ingredient for a couple of places. This project is proving to be tough but enjoyable!

re: Bowser not appearing at the end of my level for Matt:
I thought I'd fixed that! It's probably to do with the launchers, which when placed over an enemy will prevent the enemy from spawning. I put a one-way behind Bowser to prevent him from walking backwards into the launchers before they're loaded, but maybe he walked through the one-way before the one-way itself was loaded! That's my hypothesis for now at least.

 I did spend a fair bit of time on making it look nice. Was worried the faster bit would be too hard for some after my level last year.

I thought it might have been something like that. But I assumed the fact the level scrolled would have made it easier. Seeing as Bowser couldn't really move I suppose you could put him on a small rail?

Lime wrote:Really pleased to be in the safety zone this week, especially with my idol, Matt! It's a surprise to me that I achieved this over the past weeks - Thanks everyone! :D

 You deserve it though. Really feel like Chipz has been harshly done by a few times.

This week is a really cool idea. Having to use the SMB theme for the mystery mushroom is extra devilish because of how limiting it is.

I tried that at one point. Can't remember why I abandoned that idea. Didn't work as I wanted it to for some reason, I guess.

Fake edit: Oh, one reason was that had Bowser been on a rail he would have reappeared after you go through the key door. The reason he doesn't respawn? There's a block with a vine inside of it on top of Bowser that is blown up by a bob-omb when you first approach the area, which respawns after you go through the door (blocks with vines inside respawn for some reason) and that block stops him from respawning after you've gone through the door.
That block is also why there's no Bowser fire on the way to the boss fight (really thankful for that little side effect, makes the section leading up to the boss much easier and more reliable).

Come to think of it that block may have something to do with Bowser sometimes not appearing (though it really shouldn't seeing as it's blown up the moment the bob-omb to its left is loaded (squished by a block on a track immediately)).

My course may well make Cheeky Dev swear a bit :shifty: . It needs a perfect run... no checkpoints, obvs 8-) .

I've really noticed how, when baddies are on the rail system, they may not appear in the exact sequence/distance as how they were setup and this make some sections of my course a bit tricky. Dat randomised pain :datass: .

This is why you will likely triumph once again! Such incredible knowledge!

Just submitted my level. I’ve been torn all week over what to do as seemingly people don’t like my hard levels very much and also don’t like my easy levels, so I’ve struggled to get it together. I’m fairly happy with the level though, but it’s hard to tell where he voters will fall on it.

Good luck everyone!

Just checked my log and I’ve hit 130:23 hours on this game! Can’t wait for the Switch version!

Hey guys.

Might be a touch later with the results stream tonight. Not long in and waiting on my dinner coming from the Chinese, so I doubt I'll be ready for 9pm.

We'll see though.

Semi-Final Guidelines will be posted in the next hour, so stay tuned for them.

See you all on stream!

EDIT: Oh and remember that QF Voting ends at 8pm!

Semi-Final Guidelines!

Image

So for our explosive semi-final I want to see you do fun and interesting things with Bob-ombs. What you do is up to yourself, but they must play an integral part of your level.

There are no restrictions on anything else, but I want to see the cute little bastards exploding all over the place!

Remember, the two winners this week will be going through to our Grand Final, so get your thinking caps on!

You have until 8pm Sunday 13th of May to get your submissions into me.

Good luck all!
