FC 24 for Switch is £16.49 on the eshop right now.

Chris Scullion gave it an 8/10 for Nintendo Life and said it was the first decent effort from EA on the system. Looks like a good price for a solid handheld football game.

They also have a demo period coming up for NSO subscribers

I played the beta they had last year on Switch, it was decent enough but it felt very slow running at 30fps whereas previous were all 60fps. Defo one to try before you buy.

Picked up Tales of Symphonia on Switch in Game earlier for £11. Seems like a good price but I imagine stock is pretty sparse.

I think trying it on the free trial period is the right call - tried a couple of games this evening and it's a bit rough.

It had a couple of game breaking bugs and progression stops but they've been patched out after years.

Still some things dodgy with it like incorrect animations and elements for moves and things like that. The loading times are also quite long, but I read about 10 seconds or whatever which isn't horrendous. Doesn't make much sense given the GC version was instant and it's solid state... Maybe it's decompression.

Besides being 30fps if you can tolerate the older mechanics it's the best characters and story etc. Over 100 hour game.

It's not really that expensive for GameCube having just checked. On PS2 it was pretty gooseberry fool and dropped to 30fps there I think too.

This port is based on the PS3 port of the PS2 game, but it does have some extra content.

I'm thinking of grabbing it as there's a steelbook edition in my CeX right now for £15. But I already have Vesperia on my Switch and I'm lost in that...

Those kind of "RPGs are games for depressed gamers who like to sit alone in their dark rooms and play slow games"* I find are perfect for going to sleep.

* never actually said by Hiroshi Yamauchi

Edit: Well maybe he did actually say it, but the usual Japanese to English telephone game applies.

From the Xbox Chat thread:

The Xbox Series X console has been reduced in price at several UK retailers, with Amazon offering it for £359.99. The price appears as £409.99 but a £50 reduction is made at check-out.

Might be worth checking out your local Game, some of the second hand stuff in mine seemed to be marked down ....no Mario or Pokémon first party type stuff that's still steep but lots of third party Switch and Xbox stuff seemed lower than before in mine.

I think it's because they lost the GC original code - so everything is based of PS3/PC ports that were never as good, 30FPS locked etc.
