Apparently, this is/will be in Crackdown

From GAF -

to clarify, i was standing right next to spencer as he revealed this little bit of off screen information. he said he didnt feel like it was a good time to come out and say it was crackdown 3 then and so opted to wait until today. mentioned destructability would play a large role in the game and that it would all be done server side.

Not a surprise with the company making it is all about the Cloud.

The cloud stuff seem pretty interesting, should work really well in Crackdown 3.

Trailer for the actual game looked great. Crazy, inventive and fun, everything a Crackdown game should be. I have faith they will do a really good job with this.

How are you going to get the green orbs if all the buildings have collapsed?

Perhaps the orbs will fall with the buildings. It's another way of getting them.

Maybe for some silly reason the orbs make the buildings indestructible. Only once all a buildings orbs have been collected can a building be destroyed.

I agree with what the IGN dudes said in that video, it would be awesome if some missions actually required that level of planning and co-operation to succeed. Maybe not every single guy we need to take out but at least maybe the major kingpins for the gangs. If there's a good 3 or 4 ways to approach the 'boss' missions then i think that'd add something new to Crackdown.

According to Phil Spencer the game footage in this presentation is from the early Crackdown 3 engine

What happens if your internet goes down? Or if you have a flaky connection? It's all very well having a funky demonstration of distributed processing. They probably had the 'cloud' connected to a LAN cable next to the XB1.

Titanfall has dedicated servers. That's it. No server side calculations are performed.

It doesnt work if internet goes down or if have flaky connection do you see?

(also the soldiers AI that land in drop ships in TitanFall is calculated server side)

I've been in laggy games of Titanfall. Not pleasant. So, if for whatever reason your internet connection goes to gooseberry fool, can we assume that buildings will become indestructible?
