Wow, what a really awkward way to do a video. Nothing like juddering gameplay and constant rewinding to give me a great look at the game. :fp:

I really like the look of the city though.

There's a single player mode. Unclear about destruction for that, I assume there's less than 100% for that so you don't end up with a flat city with a pile of orbs on the floor after a couple of hours.

I guess, but surely that could still apply in the co-op modes, which presumably would follow the same plot and such. Guess it'll all become clear in time anyway.

I like the look of this and will almost certainly buy it, but why are they pretending that fully destructable environments are something new that is only possible "with the cloud"? Wasn't Red Faction doing that on the PS2 back in 2001?

I think there's a bit of a difference between what you could do in Red Faction and this. Yeah it's not really a new feature but it's certainly as impressive a demo of destruction I've ever seen. Whether it works that well on launch day with millions of people trying to blow everything up at the same time is another story.

There's quite a bit of difference between the 2 -

I half expect Volition to match that entirely offline in Saints Row 5. Certainly, I do think Microsoft is gratuitiously overhyping "the power of the cloud" again (but then again they gratuitiously overhype pretty much any new product they do, see also Windows 10, Hololens and Kinect).

you really need to watch that Dave Jones video up above and actually listen to what he is saying. if anything, they need to "gratuitously" over-hype it even more.

looks strawberry floating amazing.

Shock horror MS overhype their biggest product (windows 10) which is getting rave reviews btw and the cloud stuff has died down (didn't mention it in entire conference) but you need to watch the video and listen to what's being said rather than come in and chime off your usual anti MS bullsh*t. Record needs to be changed.

If this gets good reviews I'll grab myself an Xbox One. The first was one of my favourite games on the 360, absolutely loved it.

Oh, and ORBS.

I presume that the total destruction is only limited to the online side of the game?

I could imagine if you can do this in the single player, the orbs would probably stay floating up there, trolling you for being so destructive.

Crackdown was one of the surprise hits for me on the 360 (I only bought it for the Halo 3 multiplayer beta, which I never used as I was so addicted to Crackdown.) Spend a lot of hours on the original and it ended up one of my favourite games on the 360. To my shame, I never got all the agility orbs, as I was missing 13 of the bloody things.

Will the original be on the BC program as well?

This game may be the one that finally make me crack and get a X Box One. By the time, the other exclusives should have dropped in price massively. Here's hoping, anyway.

Phil Spencer said they want 100% of MS exclusives to be BC, its nailed on that it is, I bet that's why it was renamed to Crackdown 3 also.

As far as we know so far the whole game is online only. Edit: see my post below. He mentions 6:10mins into the vid teaming up with your mates to take down a kingpin via destruction, presumably in the 4 player co-op campaign mode. I've no idea what they'll do about orbs, maybe they'll fall down, maybe the buildings with orbs on them are only partially destructible in the campaign.

Someone I've followed on twitter for a while and I'm 90% sure works on Crackdown has been dropping some hints -

There's an expansive single player campaign, which you can play offline. But as well as that there's a 4 player co-op campaign which is the same thing but it is online,

There's a hate meter, which has 3 levels and fills up. The higher the level the more enemies and tougher enemies attack you.

Would have been crazy to make this online only.

Hopefully, destruction levels will be on a similar scale when played solo as in MP.

Not arguing the toss about the power of the cloud but, it was mentioned in the pre-recorded CD3 video, and I think the chap on stage may have mentioned it too.

I must have missed that, don't think he said it on stage, anyway its still far from GRATUITOUSLY promoting the cloud.

strawberry float me this is impressive in person! They had a ticker in the corner of the screen showing the computing power being used and how many cloud servers were being utilised at once (different servers serve different parts of the map). This reached 12 servers when I went hands on and buildings were being brought down all over the shop, but their record is apparently 14. Very impressive stuff.

Also, the 100% destruction doesn't feature in the campaign (which can be co-op) but there is still destruction. There's a separate multiplayer mode with its own map for all the destruction stuff.

if I was MS, I'd make sure everyone knew about how much added power this brings to games on Xbox one.
