Yeah, if you didn't like the gameplay in New Order you'll struggle with Colossus. It's actually a much worse shooter than the first (which I enjoyed in that sense).

I am enjoying the story though. Is is worth persevering with for that alone, as I'm probably close to chucking it in the fuck-it bucket?

Absolutely. There are a few story beats that are gasp inducingly fantastic. Whack it down to easy and just motor through!

No worries! Also, when they open up, ignore all the optional Ubercommander missions: they're essentially challenge-room versions of maps you've already played through and don't contain any narrative material (except from a few conversations you might overhear)

For Honor - PC

Ubisoft gave away the starter edition on pc during e3 and i gave it a try and liked it a lot, also they handily reduced the gold edition with the season pass etc. to about £20 so with the 20% off voucher you can get with 100 ubisoft meta-points it came to about £15.

It is an exceptionally well optimised game - it runs nice on my slightly outdated pc and even the medium settings look pretty nice. I need to fiddle with the vsync options a bit though. The combat is meaty and is much less about button combos and memorising movelists than it is about timing, something which put me off 2d fighting games. I'm still a bit confused by the war mode and how/where you contribute to it, but i'm sure it'll become clear in time.

I've had a mixed bag of 1v1 duels, one guy took me to pieces but at least was polite about it whereas another barely seemed to know how the controls worked and i did the same to them.

Got Axiom Verge on Switch on a whim because it was cheap in Argos, tried it last night not expecting much.
Absolutely brilliant game and the soundtrack is top notch too.

Now about a third through HZD and although wasn't enjoying it at first, am in no hurry for it to end. Only playing it on easy but some of the robot dinosaurs can still give me a very hard time. The corrupted areas are quite difficult and I've been employing the tactic of hit and run, mainly focusing on the running part.

So far I've killed all dinosaur types I've encountered except one, that seemed to fire a gooseberry fool load of lasers and kill me quickly so decided sneaking past was probably the better approach. Game stats are at the low 30s but I've only just completed the part of the story where you see the holograms first talking about zero dawn so maybe story wise I'm less than a third through as I've been doing other stuff.

If the game continues to be enjoyable I might actually consider the DLC which would be a first because for most games I've had enough when I get to the end.

Yes?

Currently going through my digital ps3 backlog & I’m playing:

The Revenge (REVENGE!) of Shinobi

In short: Yo fam, I’m a ninja & will strawberry float up your gooseberry fool.

Im really enjoying this. Nothing for me to grumble about.

I too found this a little tricky to get into (I'm only about one-hour in). I'm finding the same with God of War. They're both impressive technical feats, but they do take a little to warm up.

Such an amazing little action game! All three Shinobi games on the system are a must play.

Though err have this map handy for the obnoxious maze level near the end

Back in to Rhythm Heaven Paradise on the 3DS. Its great for playing with the world cup on quietly in the background. It really is a tricky rhythm game though, now i am doing some of the harder challenge levels etc i am finding myself getting quite annoyed. Definitely not the breezy game it may first appear to be. But its fun and hilarious.

The challenges are ruthless. Especially the one that requires perfect hits to avoid getting eaten by the monster.

Great game though. Love some of the levels in it, had that frog song stuck in my head for days. And the air badminton

Yeah, the "escape the maw" ones really get the blood pumping. You need to get ace after ace. Which, in monkey clock, is fecking impossible.

I have had the "stretch out your neck" song with the Ostriches stuck in my head for about 7 years now (since playing the first Rhythm Heaven on the DS).

Decided to give Dragon Quest Heroes a try since ten pound was knocked off on the Steam Summer Sale since it gives me something to do in the series while waiting for XI [even though I could just continue on with VII]. Quite a good little game that bases itself off Dynasty Warriors. Been having a blast with it.

Currently running through Marvel: Ultimate Alliance having picked it up on the cheap alongside it's sequel in the E3 sale. I still love it, but the port is buggy as all hell. :slol:

I've been playing Yoshi's island on the mini snes, I can't stand baby Mario crying when you accidentally knock into an enemy, even just a second gets it stuck in my head for ages.

Ludo is gooseberry fool!

The horrific wailing is probably the only mis-step that game made, everything else about it is pretty much perfect.

Wolfenstein:The Old Blood
After realising that of course stealth can be disregarded I got through the opening section with the super soldiers and it's back to being straight up brilliant. The castle setting might actually be better than the first games locations. Love it.

Horizon:Zero Dawn
I keep playing this, really enjoying it but burning out. I do like it but I find it baffling that this is often used as an example of something that is different in gaming when people talk about the homogenisation of video games. It looks great, there is an interesting narrative and world but the actual gameplay is typical open world stuff.
