Plumped down the £13 for Rise of the Necromancer character pack for Diablo 3. Was a bit wary at first, that's a lot of moolah for just an extra class, but it's been worth every penny. I never did complete the full campaign to unlock Adventure Mode (which is apparently where 99% of the fun is) so I'll definitely be getting to that ASAP. D3 continues to be one of the best couch co-op games in ages too.

Pokemon Picross - 3DS
Picked this up again after leaving it for a few months. I wish I had known sooner that I only needed one Mega Pencil for all mega evolutions. I got a bot annoyed thinking I needed a new one for each mega puzzle but I decided to check this time and the same pencil is used for all of them so it opened up a whole bunch of new puzzles for me to do. Still liking it, Ill stick with it for a bit longer and probably move away from it again. Its a cool little game to have on standby though.

Yakuza 0 on PS4. This is my first Yakuza game and I'm rather enjoying it so far. I'm not very far into it yet, I'm only at the start of chapter 2 and a lot of my time so far has spent doing brief but amusing side quests.

I'm completely hooked on Divinity: Original Sin 2. It's so dense with story and interconnected sidequests and the writing is fantastic and there are so many meaningful NPCs and the combat is brilliant.

Act 1 tasks you with escaping from a prison island and I've discovered a load of ways to do it. Very minor spoilers.

One involved finding a guys teleportation gloves, and after gutting open a monster crocodile who ate his previous accomplice to retrieve them, we headed to his escape route. He told me I'd have to leave my companions behind to do it, so I was wary of trusting him. He asked me to teleport him down from a cliff to a specific ledge, but I decided to send him elsewhere for a laugh and he got really upset, cursing me with essentially "you think that's funny? Well strawberry float you, I'm out"

A tough fight in the holding cells of the fort had me totally outmatched, so I had to try a completely different strategy to tackle it. I separated my main character from the group and sneaked around the edge as far as I could before being noticed, then when the fight started and they all went at me, ran to one of the cells. All the guards ran at me, bottlenecked in the corridor while the other party members sneaked into position to join the fight. the last move from stealth was to quietly place an oil barrel behind them, before revealing my companions and blowing it up as they turned around. Immensely satisfying, and the incredible loot it led to was a game changer for my party.

Last night I started on moving through the fort in plain sight, murdering every enemy in sight. It's slow, careful work, but I'm getting more great gear and my power is snowballing

Silver Case (PS4)

My boyfriend who played the original on PlayStation said it's good game as I found it at store for twenty bucks, so I bought it.

I'm liking the normal cases so far but I'm on special case called Yume and it's kinda boring...

I've finished Lego Batman and have moved on to 007 Blood Stone - the last game by PGR developers Bizarre Creations who activision weirdly farmed out a third person shooter to, despite their main emphasis being on driving games. It sold badly and now the studio is no more. It's a last-gen third person cover shooter, but it nails the atmosphere and momentum of bond films, and now i've come to the obligatory casino black-tie infiltration section to switch the pace up a bit. Bizarre Creations' DNA is still evident in the couple of driving sequences so far. It's fairly standard bond fair, but seems to work well, despite a few cringey dialogue lines - it plays like a tie-in game to a film which was never made and is given extra kudos  by Daniel Craig and Judy Dench's serviceable voice acting which fits the, lets be honest, style over substance of most bond stories.

See, this encounter played out v differently for me: I bashed my head against it for about an hour then got angry and rage quit. The game is stuuuupidly hard for someone coming from games like Pillars or Torment. I didn't even think to use XCOM like tactics (or even more nefarious means...apparently you can teleport the prison key to yourself then leg it) and the scarcity of essential healing items (I have 1 resurrection scroll and no idea what happens if I don't resurrect a teammate to go look for another) really put me off experimenting. I guess I just don't have that level of imagination when it comes to gameplay.

I've now whacked it down to Explorer mode. Might bump it up once I have more armour than a bucket on my head.

Started playing Shovel Knight Spectre of Torment on the Wii U. The new mechanics take a bit of getting used to, but I enjoyed what I played of it. Looking forward to getting more stuck in.

Can you change difficulty mid-game? I thought you couldn't.

Teleportation is a handy skill indeed. I use it a lot to bring out-of-reach items and chests to me, but in battle, you can just send a melee enemy off to the other side of the area when he gets close, the range is that ridiculous.

Progressing more in Silver Case, think I'm near the end.

I'm not sure I like the direction of the story and I'm kinda wanting it to end, to be honest. Some good bits but in long run I'm glad I didn't buy this at full price or even digitally, as once I'm completely done with it I'll be trading it in (unless my bf wants to keep it)

At least it's interesting experience considering its by Suda 51

Back to Original Sin 2 for a bit.

I've whacked it down to easy but I still do not get this game. Saved a dude, he said 'here's a password, use it to enter a boat to website I'll mark it on your map!' Only, he didn't mark it anywhere. The quest concludes and I have no idea where to go. There's no waypoint on the map, the guy gave no directions directions except from 'it's close' and boom. I'm lost.

Looked it up online, apparently you need to go further into the fort (you're looking for a boat remember) and do some stuff. It's so counter intuitive.

Is this game hard or am I just gooseberry fool and/or playing it wrong?

I don't really know what I'm supposed to be doing. Not helped by the fact I've played it about 3 times over a 6 month period.

I'm level 9.

Every gun I have seems to be as much use a pea shooter. Pretty much every enemy I come across walks through my gun fire and then kills me with a few hits. I die a lot. Nearly as much as Halo on legendary.

Tips please.

So I stuck at this and it's really got it claws into me now. Not played anything else since and it's probably only going to be the new FIFA that I'll play as well until I've finished this.

Now up to about level 21 and know what I'm doing now. Need to go and find the dude in the radiation sea. I stumbled into that area earlier on and having seen what it was like I'm going to level up as much as I can before I try it.

Things I didn't realise that were making things hard for me;
1. I didn't realise you could make more than 1 shot when using VATS :fp:
2. I'd forgot about critical shots :fp:

I wish I'd figured out what I was doing sooner though as I would have used my experience points differently. When you get your first batch I just spread them out evenly. It then took me a while to realise about the perks :fp: . I just kept using them on the main attributes.

Have been concentrating on intelligence so I can level up quickly, luck as I want to get the Critical hit perk, and, is it Agility that gives you more VATS action points - whatever that one is. Also need to get the scientist perk so I can craft a generator at the castle where some group has moved to.

More Spectre of Torment. This is class so far

Shovel Knight is genuinely going up in my estimation. These content updates have been great.

One would argue that a secret ferry for smuggling stuff out of the fort obviously isn't going to leave from a location out in the open. ;) When I got to that part, I thought "ok, that's one of the paths I could take, but let's see what other options are available before I commit to one", and moved up a level from that room through the huge doors in the main hallway, and on the next floor, the ferry was marked. But obviously I didn't take it because I wanted to see more.

It's a shame you're struggling so much with it. I'm coming up on 30 hours, almost ready to leave the island, and I'm coming to the realisation that it just might be the greatest game I've ever played.

I wish I could see what everyone else sees I really do. I like the world and the characters but the terrible journal and waypointing system as well as the rock-hard-or-way-too-easy combat is killing it for me.

Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition

Rather than spend money on the flash new sequel, I figured I'd finally play the original which I bought ages ago.

Unfortunately, I can only use the 360 controller with it. The game won't recognise keyboard and mouse presses at all. I can move the mouse cursor, but not click on anything, and the keyboard does nothing. I tried using the 360 pad to go into the options and turn off controller, to see if that would force it to recognise k+m, but it just locked me out of being able to navigate the menu completely.

While I can play with the controller, and did the tutorial dungeon like that, I'd rather use k+m. I've Googled it, and can't even find anyone else reporting this problem, either. :(
