Finished Persona 4, finally. Fun game. Prefer it over Persona 3 in a lot of ways (mainly in terms of mechanics) despite some issues with the way a few characters are portrayed. Traded some darkness in its tone from previous games for more lightheartedness/comedy and that generally turned out better than I thought it would. Now to Persona 5...eventually. I'll be dipping into a few different games in the meantime.

Completed all of the bandit camps, corrupted zones and tallnecks on HZD. Think I'll just finish the main story next and then call it done.

Yes?

The Letter (PC)

Fantastic visual novel, though maybe not better than Steins;Gate but still on same level as that. It's horror visual novel that also focuses on character relationships which influences the story and I really liked it. I'm trying to get good chuck of last chapter done via different story branches before going for True End, although it'll take me while considering I've put in 40+ hours and only 62% of the story has been covered, when rest of chapters is 92-96% (and two 100%ed).

Well worth £10 I spent on it!

Wow, the first DLC episode of RE Revelations 2 can go jump off a cliff. It throws so many enemies at you and you really have to ration your bullets and health as much as possible. And by the end it's throwing mini-boss enemies at you in abundance. The problem is, for some unknown reason, you only have a limited amount of lives and if you run out, it's game over. Like, fully game over. All your progress is lost and you have to go all the way back to the start. I've literally just lost two hours worth of progress because the game decided to throw two, one hit kill enemies and three super fast, tough enemies at me all at once.

You can get more continues by shooting and collecting rabbits but you can only ever have 5 continues max and you can only actually hunt the rabbits between levels.

Maybe I'll go back to it one day and finish it on easy but that has really pissed me off. There's not even any justifiable reason to force a permanent game over on the player. It's bs.

Bridge Constructor: Portal.

This is great fun, the bridge building isn't as complex as that in something like Polybridge (also great) but the addition of portals (and Weighted Companion Cubes <3) makes for some mind bending puzzles with equally 'out there' solutions.

GlaDoS is hilarious as well, the introduction of new game mechanics is always done in a brilliantly sarcastic, derisive manner that usually involves a not so subtle dig at the players intelligence.

GlaDoS has got to be up there with the all time great video game characters, for me.

Continuing my discovery of the Wii library, I started Silent Hill: Shattered Memories earlier. I like Silent Hill games, but this showcases everything that developers did wrong with the wii. Too much forced motion controls. strawberry float me, those chase sections are complete bullshit. Get those to strawberry float and it'd be a much better game.

Just running in circles trying to find the exit while the game throws stupid unkillable fuckwits at me and forces you to use motion controls (which barely work!) to throw them off. And then once you've thrown them off (because it now can't detect the pointer because you've had to throw the wii remote around to remove the stupid zombie strawberry floats) you get totally disorientated as the camera spins around or gets stuck pointing you in the wrong direction.

The constant pointing really isn't a comfortable position to play in, either. My wrist is not enjoying it.

EDIT: Made it to the high school, huzzah! The therapy sessions are very Until Dawn, aren't they?

Guns Gore and Canolli - Nintendo Switch

Nice looking run and gun game, picked it up on sale and it’s been enjoyable so far. Liking the voice acting and the animations of the characters too.

Vanquish on PC and still turning my brain off and playing Fallout 4 on the XB1.

Vanquish is a masterclass in design in some aspects. I think I'm near the end of it. The combat is so fun. They really nailed risk/reward, boost sliding into a flanking position is something so simple, but I could never get tired of it. Also discovered that you can chuck a grenade and shoot it so it explodes with time slow down. That is a great tactic.

Fallout 4 is kinda alright, but nowhere near as good as NV and F3. It feels kinda brainless, funnily enough it's the perfect game if you want something to play after work that doesn't require too much concentration. I just finished the Cabot questline, which was weird as gooseberry fool.

Yep, came out last week actually, see here...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Far-Cry-3-Clas ... =far+cry+3

Well, i assume it was a remaster anyways (i'm no expert on this sort of stuff), but i've never played this one before (i've only ever played 2, 4, Primal, and 5) and am always up for a bit of Far Cry.

Also, because i traded in a couple of games when buying it, i only paid £8.99

Edit: The sound is amazing. I've seen a few reviews were the author felt it was a bit "messy"... but I really like the tone of it. Check out the developers' take on it here.

Jesus Christ. From the opening title screen I knew I was going to love this game. Like listen to this strawberry floating menu music:

https://youtu.be/ftZJRN24YjE?t=109

God damn. Ambient & techno are to Ruiner as extreme metal was to Doom. It just absolutely enhances the gameplay to an insane degree. And dat Cyberpunk. Holy gooseberry fool. I had to upload the post mission stats screen because it is straight up the coolest strawberry floating thing ever

Seriously, this games art is like an love affrair between Akira and Blade Runner. Its like a world where Anime never went full weaboo and Akira & GiTS are still the coolest strawberry floating things in the world. Its aesthetic strawberry floating dunks on any other Cyberpunk game ive played wether its Deus Ex or Shadowrun or whatever. Ruiner is the real strawberry floating deal. BRB masturbating to this game for a bit

I was super excited for this before release, but it received rather muted reviews and I let it slide. Downloading now though, that's quite the sell.

As for myself, I'm forging on with Hollow Knight. I'm not generally in to Metroidvania type games but this one has that Dark Souls edge that's really jiving with me. It's all so...melancholic and sad, which I love, and the game is genuinely difficult in a very Souls way. And it's lovely looking, which helps.

Glad you're enjoying it, Jawa. :toot: It's a bonkers game, but strangely compelling - definitely has that 'just one more go' vibe about it. It'll be interesting to see if Codies stick by this one and release some DLC (I just want some tropical lushness in those keraaaazy tracks!). As someone who loves a good 'serious' racing sim, Onrush is a welcome antidote - it's utterly insane, divorced almost entirely from any semblance of reality and eye-poppingly good-looking. Enjoy!

About to start the Deus Ex: Human games. First up is Human Revolution. I'll try and get a screenshot of the ludicrous racism Taf mentioned before. The plan is to go for the pacifist and no alarm achievements on my first play through because I'm strawberry floating hard as nails.

I'm big into Cyberpunk games, so hoping that I'll enjoy these.

Nice, have you played any of them before? Love me some Deus Ex. :D

I've been thinking of doing a re-run through all of the Deus Ex games recently, but I think I have too many other things on the go. I've played the original many times, but each of the follow ups (Invisible War, Human Revolution, Mankind Divided) I have only played through in their entirety once each.

I found Human Revolution to be a surprisingly good follow up considering the change in team and the length of time between it and the original. I still prefer DX1 but HR didn't fall into half of the pitfalls that I thought it might do and there are even some things about it that I think are genuinely better than the original.

It's a bare bones remaster, it merely ups the resolution and little more according to Digital Foundry.

Thanks, Cal - it really is great fun! I was thinking about it this morning... it almost feels like "a new Sega arcade game"; it's loud, fast, fun and looks good! I played for a couple of hours last night and I'm eager to get back to it!

At first it may seem a little "random" as to who fares better in crash situations but - as with, say, Mario Kart - I noticed that the best players do consistently gain more points. It seems that there is more content to come, too - including additional multi-player modes.

I've just read that PS4 players can play the game for free this weekend (6 to 9 July) - the game may not suit all tastes but, if it floats your boat, it's a definite buzz to play.
