Your enthusiasm (or, uhm, “acceptance” from Brer!) has inspired me to start playing Fallout 4. I only progressed a little way into it at release before fading away for some unknown reason. Tonight I will start afresh and re-enter the wasteland :toot: .

Best part of the game by far

Otherwise I'd just play New Vegas, obviously

But yes, started it last night but was too tired to properly get into it. I just unlocked Sanctuary and my word, the number of new things I can build. I'm excited :toot:

I have only played Fallout 3 and New Vegas in the series and I place them as some of my all-time best single-player games, so I am hopeful that I will get a buzz out of this one. I’m gonna start from scratch as I can’t remember too much from my previous brief dalliance with the game.

I tend to stick with games that I can progress through... if I get to a point where, say, I can’t beat a baddie within two or three attempts then I move on to something else. I will play Fallout 4 on “easy” as I recall from my initial play that it seemed pretty tough.

Rather than spend money on the flash new sequel, I figured I'd finally play the original which I bought ages ago.

Unfortunately, I can only use the 360 controller with it. The game won't recognise keyboard and mouse presses at all. I can move the mouse cursor, but not click on anything, and the keyboard does nothing. I tried using the 360 pad to go into the options and turn off controller, to see if that would force it to recognise k+m, but it just locked me out of being able to navigate the menu completely.

While I can play with the controller, and did the tutorial dungeon like that, I'd rather use k+m. I've Googled it, and can't even find anyone else reporting this problem, either. :(

Got past my k+m issues, so thought I'd start a fresh and do it properly. Thanks to the different layout with the different input, I've uncovered the true wealth of options in the character create screen and am totally stuck about what classes to choose, or whether to modify stats from scratch. I've been sitting here for about 20 minutes, and all I've settled on is stupid hairstyles and colours for both of them.

Anyone got any suggestions about good class pairings?

This has both ruined and vastly improved XCOM 2 for me.

Playing Steamworld Heist on the Wii U, using the collection disc.

It's good, you can tell it was portable title originally. I like the bullet ricochet mechanic and levelling your robots.

Pro Evo 2018 (PS4) - sooo frustrating - and Lego Worlds (Switch) - clunky but fun.

Xenoblade Chronicles

I've put about 19 hours into this now. Still enjoying it, but seem to have spent the last few hours doing fairly pointless side quests. I'm a bit of a completionist so I like to get them all ticked off, but damn they're time consuming and - in some cases - a bit redundant. The actual plot doesn't really grab me, but the exploration side of it does, so that's the main thing pushing me on. Finally cleared my outstanding quests though so will crack on with the story now.

Madden 10
Yeah it's old as gooseberry fool, but it's still a good game. Currently in the conference final with the Seahawks, unbeaten so far. :datass: Good for a quick match every now and then, solid but unspectacular game of football.

Played some more Secret World Legends tonight with a work colleague I talked into downloading the game. As expected he was very impressed how good it is considering it's now free. Sure it has a lot of MTS, but they're mainly cosmetic and not needed to play through. Anyway, we had a good laugh and levelled up 3 or 4 levels each.

I got like 30 hours into it on 3DS before the sidequest grind overwhelmed me. I also wanted to get them all ticked off

This is a bad mindset to have going into xenoblade chronicles

I found that the vast majority could be completed during normal exploration of an area. Just load up on them and go about your business.

Spending a lot of time with Project Cars 2 (mostly on PS4 Pro). A fantastic racing sim with a bright future ahead of it. Right out of the box, this thing is an amazing proposition - a year from now who knows how far SMS are going to improve and iterate on it?

Also dabbling in Divinity Original Sin II (PC). The first game was an instant classic and I have high hopes for this one. I much prefer the turn-based RPG approach. I'm a slow player even at the best of times, and with a world this detailed and beautiful to explore I obviously don't want to be hurried about. Looking forward to spending a lot of time with the game.

There is an unholy amount of backtracking and new sidequests becoming available in previous locations. Also at different times of day. The fear of missing out is very real

Just been playing Lego Avengers with the boy, which he had for his birthday. Got to the end of the first level, where he fell in a fiery pit and died, but then was trapped in a repeating death loop and couldn't move at all. We had to restart the whole level, and now he doesn't want to play it. Absolutely shocking game design, like it hasn't been playtested at all.

Picked up Strafe for half price on Steam. Its been on my radar since I first heard about the game and now I've played it, it's not half bad. *nods approvingly*
