Got Shovel Knight super duper collection turbo thing for Switch. Initial impressions are great - lovely music and graphical stylings and tight gamefeel.

The sudden drop and lack of forward momentum on the jumping will take some getting used to, though.

I'm hoping this will fill the satisfying-2D-platformer hole that Shantae failed to :'(

Just beaten Ornstein & Smough (only took 2 attempts too...) in Dark Souls and I think I might be at 'sod it' point, as I have no idea where to go and what to do, nor do I have the inclination to waste hours of trial-and-error finding out. Stupid game.

It's alright, the game kinda isn't anywhere near as good as it was after that fight.

Can't be strawberry floated with Ass Creed Unity anymore. Played about half of it. It's dogshit for numerous reasons. Runs like crap. Controls are even shittier than the previous games. Input lag. Pointless crowds getting in the way everywhere, making the framerate turn to utter crap. Rubbish stealth. Bad camera in places.

I hope Syndicate is better

Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition (PC)

My first time properly playing a DMC game! Decided to go for this one due to ease of access for generally solid PC port (alt-tabbing in full screen aside D:) and it supposedly having the best combat.

For the most part, I'm having a blast :D I doubt I'm anywhere close to mastering the mechanics, still it's satisfying to chain moves together as the combo meter rank increases. Unfortunately the issues with fixed camera platforming/sometimes dull environments do make everything in-between the bouts a bit inconsistent, but I'm still generally enjoying exploring the environments. It frequently has that dull saturated lighting of lot of games from the late 2000s, but it's impressively detailed for the time and holds up well at 1440p downsampled.

Been mostly skipping the cut scenes, but now that I'm Dante I may let them play more; his snarky personality is much more fun than that of the somewhat bland Nero. Have no idea what's going on storywise and I'm fine with that.

Fallout 4 has taken over my life.

Was dreaming about it last night despite not playing it since Friday.

Was off work last week and despite the mini SNES turning up and FIFA coming out apart from one go at the EA Cup (lost in the final) this is all I played.

Now up to about level 42. Even getting into the whole settlement building now.

I bought Fallout 4 at launch, you’ve over taken my 70hours in a couple of weeks.

I hope to ascend to that situation soon, Ste. I’m just starting out... completed the opening event and just teamed up with Dog :toot: .

I don't really play this type of game (it's an action RPG isn't?) so I can count on 1 hand the similar type games I've played (FFXII, Skies of Arcadia & Mass Effect) so this is quite a fresh experience to me which is probably one of the reasons it's really got hold of me. I really like the levelling up / perk system.

I played it a few hours in March then a few hours in May and then again a couple of weeks ago when it took hold. I left too much time between playing it initially which didn't help.

 . Oddly I’m following a similar approach to that of playing Fallout 3.... tried it at launch, drifted off for a few years and then returned to find that I absolutely loved it. I’m hoping that history repeats itself.

I love Fallout 4, people don’t like it because it strayed too far away from 3 but it changed more toward what I wanted the game to be.

I love fallout 4.
I love the settlement building and can just sit for hours tinkering with stuff and building places for the guys to live in.

Back to The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine.

strawberry float I never want this game to end. Spent an afternoon hunting down some armour blueprints and just wandering around Toussaint admiring the scenery. It really is the GTA of fantasy; the world is so incredibly detailed and there's so much to do. Popping into a random shop I found a completely unmarked quest and and had a conversation with a vendor that was irreverent and delightful. I did up my house, which again elicited a charming conversation stream, and while wandering around the market found a bloke who wanted to paint my picture. The ensuing quest was funny, charming and exciting.

It continues to be the best RPG I've ever played and remains steadfastly within my top 5 ever. Cyberpunk 2077 cannot come soon enough.

I just have most of the Blood and Wine DLC to go then after that it's gonna be starting again with NG+, I'll take up gwent this time too. Waiting on X1X upgrade before I start back in, not long now..

Just started Darkest Dungeon. I love it so far, love how it really plays with your morality without shoving it in your face like "Will you do the GOOD thing or the EVIL thing?!". You really grow attached to your Fighters, and sending them off to a dungeon when theyre practically PTSD'd from the last adventure makes you feel like a real gooseberry fool at times.

After beating the two Amons I’m done with Yakuza 0 now. I have Alice Madness Returns from Boomerang so I’ll likely play that next.

Had the last few days off so got to grips with the new Xbox.

Recore. Doesn't break new ground, but it's a damn fun game. The definitive edition also irons out a few graphical issues and as such it runs much smoother than before.

FM7. After some thrilling races on PCars 2, FM7 is just boring to play. A tedious collectathon that hasn't evolved at all, where the actual racing feels almost like an afterthought to everything else. Will be trading tomorrow while prices are still high.

Halo Combat Evolved (MCC). Simply brilliant. But I expected nothing less.

FH3. Unlike FM7 this is anything but boring. The best open world arcade racer on the market.

American McGee’s Alice on PS3. Before playing the sequel I though I’d give the original a go seeing as how it was free DLC and all. It’s an okay game but it’s canny janky. There’s a definite square peg round hole vibe to everything, which isn’t that surprising seeing as it’s a console style platformer only made for PC, built in the Quake III engine using mouse and keyboard controls that don’t work well for that kind of game to start with and translate terribly to a control pad.

Madness Returns is vastly better. I really enjoyed it. Classic 3d platforming with nice art style. Oh and Alice's hair animation is to die for. 8-)
