Decided to give Empire at War another whirl after having not been on it since I first got it through a Steam bundle. Eight hours before I started playing. Fifteen after stopping. This is a good one. I'm terrible at the strategy, but I'm picking it up a bit at a time.

Currently play Xenoblade Chronicles 2, part way through chapter 4. I've had similar problems with the previous two XC games, in that I enjoy playing them but I just don't seem to get into them that much? XCX finally clicked with me a couple of months before BoTW came out but I think that helped me press on somewhat. Not sure what it is about them really, hopefully I'll reach a point where I won't want to put it down.

Other than that I've started my Typhlosion only run of Gold, just about to to do the Goldonrod Gym, it's about level 25, bought fire/thunder punch for when it evolves.

Persona 4. Cleared Yukiko's castle and I'm a few hours in. So far it's pretty cool. I like the changes made to the combat from Persona 3, though I experienced them first in P3P.

Yukiko's castle was surprisingly hard for a level so early on in the game, and for a game I expected to be easier than the previous title. Enemies got deadly only a few floors up and challenged my HP/SP management. Couldn't clear it on the first in-game day I was there - I cleared it on the second, and only just.

Looking online, it seems I wasn't alone in thinking this, and apparently the game does get easier afterwards and then has a steady difficulty curve.

You are given plenty of in-game days to clear the level but I wanted to do it in as few as possible so I could spend more days on social links/out-of-battle stat building. It's no biggie anyway, though. It made beating the boss all that more cathartic.

Well Xenoblade is really struggling to keep me playing at the moment, so much so with all the rumours surrounding Pokémon Switch recently I've just banked all my decent Pokémon from Ultra Moon so I can do a fresh playthrough of it. Only played it the once at launch so I thought I'd give it another go, helps break up my numerous Gold runs as well.

Crash Time 3 - PC

This terribly-named game is actually the English release of "Alarm für Cobra 11: Highway Nights" and is based on a German action cop TV series:

It's sort-of open world but there isn't much to do, serving more as a backdrop for the main storyline which so far is fairly typical, going underground to infiltrate a stolen car gang etc., involving lots of driving around stopping bad guys, racing through checkpoints and the like. It's wonderfully euro-jank with, to their credit, a complete english voiceover that is janky enough to be endearing rather than just annoying. These games are fairly rare and expensive physically, fortunately this was on a steam key selling site for about £1 so I thought i'd give it a go, the rest are quite hard to find due to their limited print runs but the horrendous name and box art makes it look like real bargain bin charity shop/bootsale fodder so I'll be keeping an eye out for them I think.

Resident Evil 3

Holy gooseberry fool balls! Why is it so hard. When I was a kiddy I could bum rape Nemesis with one hand but now he's tentacle strawberry floating me and I'm scared to death of getting a prolapsed anus from sloppy tentacles.

Take ‘Nemesis’ out and that is literally the greatest no-context GRcade post we will ever see. Ever.

I hope he creeps into your room tonight with that sharply honed tenty and slaps you about. Then you have a wet, slippy kiss on his toothy, lipless gabba.

I'm so glad someone else has actually played any of these :o  They're genuinely very fun games despite how low-budget it all feels. I'd love for them to do an English version of the show, too. There's nothing really like it out there.

Still disappointed the franchise is dead now. It's even got reasonably decent multiplayer.

Crash Time 3 looks a lot of fun. Are they still available?

Inspired by
jawafour wrote:
(and having watched the first two films last week) I've been playing Mad Max.

Pros:
- It looks lovely, much nicer than I would have thought for a mid-budget game
- The car combat is brilliant and is only getting better the more upgrades I unlock
- The customisability of the Magnum Opus is insanely fun and the main reason I'm still playing
- The engine sound effects are *chef's kiss*

Cons
- It's quite repetitive: destroy this convoy, pull down this scarecrow, kill this sniper etc etc
- The car handling, bizarrely, is a bit rubbish. There's no handbrake button as far as I can see, so single car showdowns tend to devolve into the two of you slowly circling each other until one gets a bead on the other.
- The characters and world are nothing like the films. Some examples; it's meant to be Australia but all the characters have US accents (apart from Max and a minority of NPCs). Most of the original characters are super whacky and not in keeping with the universe at all. The terminology lacks the nuance and originality of the films (Scabrous Scrotus? Really?)
- The on-foot combat is ripped directly from the Arkham series (like every WB game) but is nowhere near as fun
- The bases are a strawberry floating pain to take down. [Transfer Tanks Destroyed 1/34] Urgh.
- It uses the Ubisoft 'tower' mechanic but every time, every time, forces you to watch a ponderously slow animation of Max riding a balloon. It's infuriating.

It's definitely a 7/10 sort of game, but I'm enjoying it. Just pressing the accelerate trigger and hearing that engine roar is enough for the moment. I need to try out the photo mode too.

Can't argue with a lot of those Cons, Taf. Some are less infuriating than others, but the ponderous balloon moments are mad inducing! I get it happening the first time you go up in a balloon, but every time with no option to skip the scene? Gah!

But there is a lot to like about Mad Max, it's a lot of fun, and yes the roar of the engine puts a smile on my face every time. I hope they've used it in Rage 2.

Crash Time 3 is on steam, the rest are a bit harder to track down either on pc or console, however the developers closed 4 years ago so 'acquiring' them by other means nowadays has less of a moral sting to it now than perhaps before, also they appear to be pretty much standalone so playing the rest probably isn't necessary.

Unite... Mad Max crew! :toot: .

Yeah, there are some clunky aspects and I can understand thst the religion of the main gameplay loop may not suit everyone. I was totally invested in it though, hunting down everything everywhere! I still haven't got around to trying the Batman games but, for me, the fighting in Max was wonderfully solid and crunchy - more so with the terrific sound effects emanating from the Dual Shock 4 speaker.

I agree about certain aspects of driving. I feel that the vehicles are great for steering and controlling but the timed race sections are pretty tough and annoying and so I left those. The car weapon aspects are brilliant, though - the harpoon is incredible for tackling not only other vehicles but enemies in camps!

7/10 is probably a fair score and I suspect that many folk would agree on that. In my eyes it's a solid 9/10 as the look, feel and gameplay ticks all of my personal taste boxes. I miss Chumbucket and will return for another playthrough at some point.

Rage 2 certainly looks to contain a number of ideas and styles from Max, so I'm intrigued to see how that'll turn out.

So I saw some game called Cleansuit on Steam where it's text adventure where you had to try escape/survive the encounter with serial killer which I curiously bought.

It's actually pretty good!... Just damn scary.  I'll be playing with my boyfriend Doeragynn later and will be streaming it on Twitch as well.

Now I've actually got a Wii I'm going back to a few of the games that I missed out on over the years, so I'm currently working through Skyward Sword, Beat the Beat, and Wario Ware :shifty: Got to the Tiny Wario stages in Wario Ware, but I can't do the boss stage at all. It's one of those really strawberry floating annoying stages where it doesn't tell you what you're doing wrong so it's absolutely impossible to actually learn without just going through the whole 19 stage level all over again :x Sixth time now I've gone through it and failed at the same moment (the bit where you point out to the side). Got through it once, then failed the next time you do that same move. I've got no strawberry floating idea what I'm doing wrong :slol: :fp:

All I want to do is unlock the multiplayer. Shocking.
