Also started playing Saturday Morning RPG on Switch which has been pretty good fun so far but it just depends how long it is. If they keep it short then it'll be a great game.

EDIT: How Long to Beat says 4 hours which sounds about perfect to me.

Indie devs doing RPGs is great as usually by necessity they'll be short, is nice to get a JRPG fix without it becoming a 20+ hour commitment

Finished the Destiny 2 campaign (somehow worse than D1's) and am onto the aftergame stuff. I've hit the vanilla soft cap of around 260 and am sort of struggling to figure out what to do next that doesn't involve buying the expansion. The strikes are OK, I can't access the raid and yeah.

Hum.

What's the raid's level cap? I'm sure it was around 260-280 when it was released. The hard cap back then was 300.

From what I remember, each world now has a "World Quest" you can go and do. And Heroic events might raise your level up too.

I reckon you could do the raid at 260 now, given that other people are going to be way ahead of that. Though I'm not sure what the entry requirement for loading it up is, as I can't get on the game right this moment. If you're looking to do it and we can get a team here, time zone permitting I would help you out

I'm surprised too that you think the campaign was so bad. Most reckoned it was pretty decent, and definitely better than the hodge podge that was Destiny's base game. Nothing outstanding, but enjoyable enough.

Leviathan is 300 with a req of 290 to even try. I mean, I could try and power level to hit that but there seems little point given there are those running around at close to 600 now.

I'm not sure. Part of me wants to give the expansion a try but the other sees the below and thinks...what's the point?

https://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin ... ppens-now/

“Some of our other franchises like Destiny are not performing as well as we'd like," was the exact quote, followed up by a promise to create more content and pursue additional forms of monetization.

Was playing A Hat in Time, but it's impossibly hard in places to the point of being unenjoyable so I've abandoned it for now. (In my defence I've never been all that good at platformers).

AC Origins. Unfogged the entire map, now out to kill The Scorpion. I'm not entirely sure how far there is to go in the main story, but I've been doing a tonne of side quests etc.

TWD S1. One more chapter to do then on to S2.

And now Destiny 2 Forsaken has been reduced by a tenner. Must admit, I'm sorely tempted at that price.

They must have raised the Leviathan requirement as it definitely wasn't that high before.

Is Forsaken discounted on the French store or something? Coulnt find the discount on the UK one. You should just just buy it if you like Destiny, as it's the best it's ever been.

As for monetisation, in its current state, you don't need to shell out a penny bar for the expansion itself (and it's a sizeable expansion). The spectre of monetisation will always lurk over games like Destiny unfortunately, so I wouldn't let that put you off for now.

My Acti-Blizzard account is UK and it was deffo reduced this morning! Nabbed it for £25!

So I'm in, for better or worse. I'm already lvl 26 and I haven't even started the Osiris or Mars stuff yet (I'm not using the lvl 30 boost on this character).

I'll be honest, it was the Gambit free trial alongside the reduction that got me onboard. That's a fun MP mode.

Started RiME quite like it so far, a couple of the puzzles have strawberry floated me in that I can't work out where to go as the usual clues for what's climbable are dimmer but mostly really enjoying it.

It's just done the bird bit and am through to the next area.

I'm an hour into Osiris and it's strawberry floating dull. Like, properly. I'd have been going mad if I'd bought this on release.

The Mercury tileset is ok, but the gimmick of levels appearing section by section is rubbish. I also like the fact they had a tooltip about killing the daemons to unlock the gates, as if killing enemies to unlock gates isn't Destiny's raison d'etre'!

Yeah Mercury is pretty crap. The Halloween event repurposed the Infinite Forest quite well, but that finished last Tuesday I think.

Like you said, had I purchased it on release, with Destiny 2's endgame being lacking, I would have been desperately disappointed. Even now, I only really go back to Mercury when it's the flashpoint and even that's pointless now I'm max level.

The original game suffered this with The Dark Below too, being equally disappointing, before House of Wolves improved things and The Taken King saved the game. They need their lesson next time and not have to go through this cycle again.

Mars is much better as an area, and Warmind is the better of the two. You can probably just finish the main campaign for each for now and then just go over. To Forsaken. That has a proper endgame that is still delivering ( I only finished the Shattered Throne last night and still haven't touched the raid).

Saying that, the Raid Lair in Osiris is a pretty good encounter if you can find people to do it with.

This continues to be my issue, although I've a few friends who have expressed an interest in getting on-board. I've downloaded the GamerLink app someone mentioned earlier so I'll give that I try once I'm the correct level (I'm about 290 now so will wait till 300 to try Leviathan.) I also noticed the Guided Games beta thing on Nightfalls and that's an idea I can definitely get behind. As I say, I found Gambit to be surprisingly fun too during the free trial, although now I've updated to Forsaken there seems little point in playing it until I reach 500 ish.

It really is amazing how much the sins of the father were passed to the son with D2. I've been doing a little reading into its development and apparently the project was reset twice before Luke Smith (of 1UP fame) was brought on as director and it was he who made most of the decisions that blighted the base game (microtransactions, almost complete lack of endgame) and repeated the problems of the first.

Destiny is something of a sad tale really; a developer on top of the world biting off far more than they could chew and becoming exactly that which they never wanted to become: a publisher dominated grindhouse.

Still original Destiny.

I came so close to my goal of finally finishing a raid this past Friday night. In a party where 5 of the 6 had never played WotM before and where 1 of the 6 appeared to speak very little English I thought making it to the second phase of the Aksis fight before everybody just getting frustrated and quitting was a pretty good attempt.

At least for future tries I know roughly what to do up until that final encounter, which I am gonna research online before trying again.

I was actually wondering how many people were still playing the original. Is there still a community there?

It’s still surprisingly busy. You see a good mix of brand new players and veterans milling around the social areas it can be a little difficult finding a squad to help with strikes etc. however.

I must be the only one who quite liked Osiris, the only issue I had with it was the traversing back after finishing a mission (at least I think that was the issue).

The areas themselves might have been repetitive, but Destiny is about 30 seconds of gameplay loop just like Halo and you could probably set that just about anywhere and still have fun with it. I thought the storyline was interesting and that's pretty much all it needed to be.

Having said all that, Forsaken is a lot better. Still surprising me how much there is to do in the endgame even if you can't play the Raid.

This was my issue really. There's no innovation or forward momentum, it's exactly as you say: that core gameplay in a new, boring, setting. The lore is...probably more interesting than the Red War campaign (which I found extremely disappointing even with low expectations) and as always the skyboxes Bungie make are the best in the business but the level design feels incredibly lazy.

Spent a good chunk of my weekend playing through Ori and the Blind Forest. Really enjoyed it, the best MS title I've played in ages. The combat was probably the weakest part, but it looked wonderful, had a great soundtrack and the platforming controls were sublime. Surprisingly strong story too. Lasted about eight hours, with a good rate of upgrades throughout. Played it on normal, and enjoyed the challenge, dying just under 400 times, but have no idea how anyone could complete the one life mode.

It has also put me in the mood for another Metroidvania, so I'm leaning towards getting one of the classics off my backlog- Super Metroid or SOTN. How does the 360 version of SOTN (on X1) compare? I don't know if the PS4 release made any drastic changes, so might be better holding off on that.
