Also been larking around with the jukebox & created my own playlist. Hoping they will patch "shuffle"' in for this option, as far as I know you can only put one song on per level which is a bit naff especially when you get the same level over & over.

Absolute Supercars
Things didn't go so well the last time I played this a few years ago. But I've practiced & practiced, stood my ground like the time when the iceberg knocked down the titanic & sent the AI to the bottom of the ocean.

Coming up on 60 hours on PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS now, and yeah: this is really strawberry floating good. I'd never really given a lot of thought to these Battle Royale-type games but I'm having a ton of fun with this. Super tense, and satisfying as hell when you actually manage to get a win. Not optimised particularly well but wholly enjoyable nonetheless.

Also finally grabbed Overwatch when it was on sale, and I can definitely see why it's so popular. Mostly playing Junkrat and Widowmaker at the moment and not doing too badly. Can definitely see myself playing this for quite some time.

I'm mainly playing Star Trek Bridge Crew VR and it's great.
The community is nice and the game is solid and fun.

Just started Dishonored 1. So much for trying to be stealthy.... I've killed everyone I've met so far cos I can't hide well enough

Ha, I started out like that as well. It gets easier to be stealthy later on (not much later on) and there's more opportunity for it. From memory I felt the earlier part of the game was quite enclosed and therefore quite difficult to be stealthy, especially as you're still learning the mechanics of it all. Definitely better later on.

Dirt 4 (PS4 Pro version)

The good news is that Rallycross is now actually both playable and manageable. In DIRT Rally it was, for me, always an uncontrollable, chaotic mess - here, on the easiest settings, it's actually a good racing mode. Those wild car dynamics have been toned down to the point of mastery and crossing the line first is now an actual thing.

In terms of content the game is perhaps lacking. Sure you get the whole 'infinite random courses' thing but in truth I'm not sure how compelling that will turn out to be. I'd much rather have had a much bigger roster of cars and hand-crafted tracks from a wider international selection (how about some South American tracks? SE Asian?). This feels like the bare minimum Codemasters felt they could release in a full-price title and get away with it. Expect DLC to follow to fill out those obvious gaps.

On a positive note, gone are the dreadful replay cameras that have always plagued the DIRT series. We now get a far more reasonable mix of trackside and overhead helo cams with just the occasional in-car camera view for good measure (because a very bad habit is presumably just too hard to break completely). Also the whole 'dudebro' nonsense of older DIRT titles has thankfully been all but excised from DIRT 4. This feels like a much more sober rally sim, focused on the business of racing, not on the idiocy of 'Hoonigans' and 'Blockisms'. *shudders*

Worth a punt? Hmmm. I love rally games, so I can't be unbiased here. This is a solid enough title and it will meet a certain need for rally sim fans, but it somehow feels incomplete at this stage. Give it six months, a few substantial DLC packs, some updates and patches and we could be looking at a far more viable package.

7.5/10. Competent, a handsome devil, but still a little way to go.

I offed the boss that was troubling me in Dragon Warrior VII and finished another couple of areas. I think I've just about restored the world map now too so I'm not sure what'll be happening once I beat the island I'm currently exploring.

This War of Mine - [PC]
Ive had my eye on this game for a while, I picked it up in a Steam sale last year and it just sat there unplayed as I got on with other things. I finally got around to playing it and I have to say I really like it. It doesnt really explain anything, or if it does I havent noticed, but Ive been able to pick up the basics pretty easily. I dont know how much longevity it will have, the random nature of the terrible things that can happen is already starting to grate but there is real satisfaction to be had by setting up a working refuge.

I liked it at first, but gave up on it after a while.

Yeah I can see that happening, anything with random events like this can only go so far before they become annoying and not fun. Ill enjoy it for the next while at least.

Starfox Adventures
A few frustrations, but it's good on the whole. Think I'm about a third of the way through. Has elements of Starfox (obviously), Zelda and platform games, and it actually works well.

Hyrdo Thunder Hurricane
This is great fun. Handles well, looks good, and just a blast to play. Real shame there's no time-trial mode; it's crying out for one.

Mainly PES on PS4. Barely playing anything else bar Mario Kart Monday on the Wii U and a tiny bit of Disgaea on Switch.

I need to pick, say, two games and concentrate on them rather than flitting about between stuff. But, man, I've been saying that for ages and I haven't actually done it. My attention span seems to be so short at the moment.

What did you make of the section with the rolling barrels? I found it easily one of the hardest parts of the game which is odd since it happens pretty early on.

Hmm, not sure which bit you mean. I can only think of two bits you might be referring to; there's the bit outside when those two enemies are throwing barrels down the hill and you have to get up to them, or the bit inside the volcano where you have to go up a relatively short ramp with continual barrels coming down. You have to go up it several times throughout the course of the dungeon.

If it's either of those, honestly I didn't have a problem. Did them both first time from what I can recall. Maybe I'm thinking of different sections..?

Aye, it's the bit with the ramp where you carry the fuel barrel that I'm talking about. Maybe I'm just a bit gooseberry fool but it frustrated the hell out of me.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood

I played through the new order around two years ago but had left this expansion unplayed, the trailer for Wolfenstein 2 at E3 made me go back and I'm so glad I did. It's more simplistic and repetitive than the Old Blood in many respectives but it's fantastic fun, throws loads of enemies at you with great weapons to dispatch them with. I'm playing it on the third difficulty setting so it's sufficiently challenging that I am dying occasionally but never frustratingly so, it's also the perfect game to play after having played through sprawling adventures like Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild and Red Dead Redemption in recent months.

Ahh, I'm with you. Forgot about that part. Yeah it took me a couple of tries. Once I'd noticed the pattern of the barrels it wasn't too bad, although the fact you need to do it a couple of times to progress was annoying. Seem to be a few sections where you have to do the same thing over and over/do lots of backtracking, which is annoying.

Fallout New Vegas. Currently in the dead money DLC, but I might just load up an earlier save and forget this ever happened. It's so unbelievably shite.

Titanfall 2 (PS4)

So, after finally putting my PES master league game to bed, i've been playing Titanfall 2. Worked my way through the campaign which was really rather wonderful. After the first couple of missions I thought it was really solid if a little unspectacular, but once got to *that* mission... Oh boy! Loved every minute of it. Put me in mind of half life a bit too. It's great how each mission throws something new at you. Still to get stuck into the multiplayer and gonna go back and get some more of the collectibles in the campaign.
