 i was talking about Flatout but they seem bad for the same reasons; bug-ridden and kind of dull.

Fallout 4 has sold the most by quite a margin and I think had the best reception Critically in the series. Don't think Bethesda will change anything.

EDIT:

The most successful game in Bethesda's History.

It's taken over from Skyrim. I love Skyrim and Fallout 4 and I think they are far superior than Fallout 3 and Oblivion in every sense.

Success =/= quality. It's no secret that a large portion of the user base were also disappointed. I mean, I'm the world's biggest fallout fan and I could find very little to love. The story was awful, the world dull, the characters so one dimensional they disappear if looked at side-on and the crafting was largely pointless and poorly implemented.

It's fine that you like it, even more than 3* but there's no ignoring it's commonly regarded as the worst in the series

*which is otherwise objectively wrong

They removed character choice from F4, in NV you had multiple ways to complete quests both violent and non violent. In F4 every single quest I recall ends in combat with no dialogue options to resolve any other way. As an RPG it's a massive massive step backwards from NV, as an action shooter it's much more refined though. If you like that sort of thing. I don't.

Yep. There were very few quests with even a dialogue option, let alone some of the creative solutions key to the Fallout franchise. And the dialogue system...probably one of the worst attempts at streamlining I've ever seen. The infamous "Sarcastic" response (which ranged from Dad jokes to psychopathic aggression) has become so for a reason.

Some utterly baffling decisions made in the development of that game.

I wasn't saying Success = Quality, but Success does mean not much will change for Fallout 5.

I couldn't get on with Fallout 3, being 3ft from a ghoul and missing him with my shotgun just pissed me right off so maybe Fallout 4 wasn't what the fans wanted but coming from a noob of sorts I think it's stunning.

I thought Oblivion was one of the greatest games I ever played then Skyrim came along and did everything Oblivion did but better, yet you'll find many Oblivion fans who didn't take to Skyrim which I can't understand. Maybe same thing happened with Fallout 4.

Whoops, thought I read Fallout.

But yeah seems to be main opinion of most gamers, I'm really hoping Fallout 5 will be better :(

Also still in part 1 on Yakuza 5... Trying to get damn revelation for the trash bin :c

Nothing will change until a major new Fallout game flops hard.

Yep, it'd have to 'pull an Andromeda'.

As it is in Fallout 4 but you don't miss blatant gooseberry fools at close range. Xcom winds me up enough doing it.

Fallout 4's biggest 'problem' is that for most console players Fallout 3 was the first time they had experienced a massive open world and that feeling of awe can never be recaptured.

I think the world is much better, the large cities feel like places as there are loads of buildings to explore with multiple levels. I will never forget how disappointed I was with NV when I got to the strip to find a couple of buildings and massive load times.

The crafting didn't grab me at all, I always felt like it would better to have a separate base building system and way of managing trade rather than doing it in first person.

The Surge on PS4. I was really enjoying this until I hit the first boss who is a strawberry floating piss take. You can't even damage him until he enters a stunned state which doesn't happen until you've already hit him a bunch of times, even then you only get a pretty small window of opportunity and everything he does takes off almost all your health.

EDIT: I've beaten him.

I only have two games on the "go", both on PC. Flatout 4, which really isn't that bad and has a bit of a Motorstorm vibe (plus was only just over £3!) and Zombie Army Trilogy which I suspect becomes very monotonous in single player but is good fun if you have at least one other person to play with.

I finished flatout 4 last night, it runs weirdly at 60hz, crashed on finishing the last championship and felt nothing like motorstorm to me and barely like the previous flatouts either.

I agree there is something weird about it. It never feels totally smooth, but Steam shows a constant 60fps.

Set the in-game monitor frequency to 50hz and it goes away - its some sort of weird frame-pacing issue that is normally solved by forcing vsync on the gpu but even that doesn't work with this. It does mean slumming it at 50fps but at least its consistent, for what it's worth.

Its best to remember that what you see onscreen during turn based combat is merely a representation of what is supposedly happening.

That stationary ghoul or sectoid you're shooting at from short range would actually be moving and probably trying to rip your face off while you're trying to take steady aim.

Kirby's Adventure
Playing this on the NES mini. It's not bad at all. The controls can be frustrating and can lead to some unintended actions and deaths - but you kind of adjust to the crapness after a while. It's pretty much the only Kirby game I've played, so it's good to go through. It's not particularly difficult, but I don't really want or need it to be. Not sure how far I am through it - think I'm on the 4th or 5th world - but hoping to polish it off soon.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein
I always wanted to play this but somehow never got around to it. I picked it up cheap a couple of weeks ago though and have been steadily going through it. A few hours in, and it's good. Took a while to get it running at its best on a modern PC, but when I did it's pretty enjoyable.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD
Got this on Steam a while back before it got delisted. You can tell it's a pretty low-effort game in terms of customisation options and content, but it was only very cheap so I don't mind too much. The classic THPS gameplay is as good as ever - makes you wonder how they strawberry floated it up so badly in the end.

Xenoblade Chronicles
Haven't had too much time to invest in this, but I'm still chipping away. I've pretty much lost track of all of the nuances of the combat system by now. Every time I reach a new area or a new boss there seems to be yet another combat mechanism thrown in there with multiple screens explaining how it works - I just can't be arsed with that. I like some depth, but this feels like too much. That aside, it's going okay and am still enjoying it.

You little bugger. RTCW is a mega plex of origami, you young bugger, enjoy the taste. Leather sluts and a fat bitch. Yes, sexism, But the gameplay is strawberry floating bang on and you, might get a fat wank on from all the leather/pvc german ladies but suck on those labbies and it's all good.

Women are so lovely.
