Dead Cells

Accidentally gave up on a pair of massively upgraded, sweet as strawberry float, third strike = crit swords for a strawberry floating rare but awful boomerang :fp:

I returned to AC Origins this evening to see if I could get back into it and I have. A little break from the grind was obviously all that was required. Now to push toward completing it.

Been feeling a bit rubbish today so didn't want to play anything new, so I've started my Meganium run of Crystal. I've completed Gold solo runs with both Feraligatr and Typhlosion (which were both on the very easy side) and I've been putting off starting a Meganium run as I felt a bit burned out constantly replaying Johto. Only just started it, one gym down and Chikorita (nicknamed Dippy) is doing fine :)

My thumbs hurt but it's okay because it's worth it for the satisfaction of beating a B-Side 8-)

So far I am enjoying it but it does feel less intuitive than the sequel with some (unsurprisingly) less than modern game design - but I don't necessarily give it a pass in this area, since other games at the time have aged better. I don't like the poltergust gyro controls and there's no alternative control scheme, but they aren't gamebreaking for me. At least you don't get interrupted by Egad every time you enter a new room like in the sequel.

Also since some people were asking about the frame rate, it's fine. It dips during cutscenes and tanked to below 'cinematic' levels during the mass Boo-escape bit, but it's steady during regular gameplay and it's good enough for what kind of game this is.

Thanks for mentioning this

The font size in XCOM 2 is so small, struggling to read large parts of it. Can't see any accessibilility options to increase text size either (on PS4), so should probably hold off playing it until I upgrade my TV.

Thought the opening of Snake Pass was lovely though, so looking forward to the rest.

God of War 3 remastered
Been working my way through God Of War 3 the last week or so. Thought it was a bit button mashy at the start but it got better after the first boss; from the Hades level on. Not a fan of the jumping mechanics, it's pretty clunky, plummeted to my death quite a few times. Kratos is also a massive tit. The levels are really impressive though, climbing up titans etc, is really well thought out. Fairly close to the end now, prob finish over the next few nights.

Split Second

Every car I’ve driven so far has nasty, floaty controls.

But I’ll carry on.

Edit: what on Earth is with the tilting camera when I’m speeding around the corners. Your not Jason Bourne with shaker cam stuff. Wtf is this?.

I hope I can switch that crap off in the option. Flipping tilting the camera when your going around a corner. I’m trying to race.

I’ve lost 3 races due to that shite game design. I’ve seen better camera angles in porn. What a stupid idea.

Still Crystal, just about to start the Goldenrod Gym, Dippy is currently sitting at level 29 so even Whitney's Miltank won't pose an issue (hopefully anyway :dread:).

After finishing Torna I've been craving more Xenoblade so decided to replay the first game. Having a great time with it, whilst the combat feels a little basic by comparison it's still fun to play, and the world and story remains excellent. And I'm definitely clicking with the gameplay better than the first time when it was a pretty new genre to me.

Yep, used one for the first time a year or so ago though and it was pretty handy! Still a pain the first time you come up against it though

Nier Automata (PS4 Pro version). One of the most over-analysed, heavily critiqued video games of recent years? Possibly, if YT's search results are anything to go by. I've resisted the game up until now, despite having watched a good many of those reviews/critiques over the past year. I recommend SuperButterBuns and Valkyrie Aurora's takes on the game - two of my favourite female YT personalities:

I'll not deny my interest was piqued. Finally, I gave in and purchased the game.

So far, so good (3hrs in). I knew what to expect and it hasn't disappointed. Yet. It looks far better than I was led to believe, too - really very beautiful at points.

Let's see how far I can get through this convoluted, opaque JRPG before I inevitably hit some impassable wall of difficulty.

Return of the Obra Dinn.

This is a game, man. A game. I'm about a third of the way in and it's clear this is really special, a cross between Her Story, Ghost Trick and the PoTC films (obviously much better written) while also being something utterly unique. Haven't been this excited about a game whilst playing the game in ages.

Platinumed Ratchet and Clank so now I'm moving onto some other PS+ stuff, starting with God of War 3. Probably unwisely chose Hard difficulty even though I've never played the series before so got my arse handed to me throughout the first section, but after getting into Hades I've improved a fair bit. Took several attempts to take the big man down but got there eventually, looking forward to seeing how differently his claws play to the blades when I next get on.

Assassin's Creed: Unity

Image

I'm a couple of hours in and holy gooseberry fool is this game gorgeous! I've been playing Rogue Remastered of late (finish that a few days ago, great game), and compared to that admittedly quite pretty (at times) game, this is something else. Yes, I'm aware of Origins' and Odyssey's prettiness. No, I'm not there yet. The controls feel quite a bit different, and I'm glad of the addition of the sneaky movement mode. The customization options feel overwhelming compared to Black Flag and Rogue, and I'm still getting used to the idea of all these weapons being at my disposal. I'm not keen on purchasing abilities, I much preferred them just being there, as in previous games. Bug-wise, I had some guy pop in on an awning, and the crowd scenes at the Third Estate gathering at the beginning were marked by a good amount of people in the back of the crowd popping in and out. Beyond that, it's a very nice game. I like how points of interest are marked on the map now, and the map being 3D feels nice, albeit a tad unnecessary. I could've gone for an 18th century-esque city map, oh well. Taking cover feels a bit unwieldy, what with you having to exit cover to round a corner than go back into cover again.

All pretty good so far.

Pokémon Crystal, first league run done, Dippy is level 67. I'll probably do a few more runs before venturing into Kanto, going to need to find some PP ups though, only found the one so far.

Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix
On Vs Roxas fight which is kicking my arse so I need to grind some levels and hopefully I can take him down, as I want to unlock final form for glide so I can grab collections I've missed.

Final Fantasy XIV

Finally wanting to play again, I've also formed my own free company on Louisoix so that'll be interesting new experience.

Still playing on balmung, not fussed about capping weekly tomes on that though - just slowly getting Paladin to 70. 63 at the moment

Pokémon Go

Halloween event plus Gen 4 Pokémon, it's fun to do when heading to work then back home.

Ah! Back to XIV! Nice to see you in the game again, Seven. It'd be cool to join your free company but I play on the Omega server. I know I could (I think?) make a new character on Louisox but, being realistic, I am never gonna play enough to keep two characters going :-).
