Zelda The Wind Waker HD

Ember (PC top down RPG. Very good stuff)

And I've been dabbling on NMS again since the foundation update. A much improved experience, not least that I now have stuff to do again.

Took advantage of Humble Bundle's "cancel anytime" monthly sub to get Total Warhammer (why on earth is that not it's real name?) for £9.92. Spent about 4 hours on it getting my arse handed to me.

Which is good. Because I'm terrible at these games. Like, really really bad. I think the furthest I've ever gotten was in the second Shogun game where I spent 15 hours conquering most of southern Japan before the Shogun got pissed and annihilated me in a few turns. Warhammer continues this fine tradition.

But I'm liking it. The units are bursting with personality, something missing from the historical games, and look fantastic. I've picked the Dwarves for my first foray into the Old World and they're suitably angular and grumpy. I do like the fact they have reet northen' accents too, rather than the overused Scottish lilt usually employed. The campaign map is toned down a little apparently, no more setting taxes or dealing with politics, but this serves to put the emphasis where it should be, on the battles.

They really are things of wonder. In my last fight before I completely ran out of money I had 8 cannons and 3 ranks of Thunderer riflemen lined up firing away at the walls of an Ork capital, and it was sublime. Of course I then discovered you can click on the cannons to enter a manual fire mode, complete with bullet-tracking camera, and I almost cried. The spectacle of it is great and I haven't even encountered any giant units yet.

tl;dr It's good enough that I want to become not-shit at it.

EDIT: My one issue is the DLC. £5.99 for Chaos, who should have been included from the start? Get strawberry floated.*

*I will probably buy this.

Ocarina of Time on 3DS. I'm at the tail end of the game, I have the Shadow Temple and The Spirit Temple accessible now.

I really do have a soft spot in my heart for this game. It's still fantastic after all these years.

Jeanne D'arc (PPSSPP emulator)

Currently replaying this wonderful game which, criminally, I never actually finished the first time round.

Playing it upscaled with FSAA and for a PSP game it looks really good.

Darksiders - Warmastered edition (PS4)

I'm now up to the tower and god I forgot how much of a slog this turns out to be.

Nice! Been wanting to play this for ages, looks amazing. I think I read there was a 60fps mod you could apply if emulating it too which is neat.

Fantastic game, I tend to find the difficulty in tactics games very off putting but bar a couple of spikes this gets it just perfect. I like that there are free battles so you can focus on training one character when you need to. I just enjoyed battling too, it never once felt like a chore.

Sniper Elite 3 on PS4 Pro. I've not played a sniper game before; the nearest that I've come to this style of gameplay is probably GoldenEye 007 back on the N64. Before buying the game, I did my research and checked out lots of reviews and watched clips on YouTube. To be honest, I wondered if the very gory scenes of shooting would turn me off... but it really adds to the game :shifty: .

The feel is excellent; I love creeping around the landscape and picking out where the enemies are before settling down to line up a shot. The game oozes atmosphere... I am constantly looking around to see if an enemy is creeping up on me and I enjoy scanning the landscape to identify possible routes to take.

I have completed the first two stages and they have been terrific fun. The graphics are very good even though this game was dual-developed for last gen and current gen machines.

I am pleasantly surprised as I hadn't thought that this style of game would grab me. Who knew that I would enjoy be a death-dealing* assassin? :toot: .

* I am playing on the easiest skill level  .

I gave Hexcells Infinite another go but didn't last long before rage-quitting over my own monumental stupidity after making minimal progress over several hours of staring at the grids and convincing myself there was no way to proceed without pure guesswork.

Been playing Last Guardian whenever I feel like it. It's good fun so far, but I can't help but feel ICO is better game despite not beaten that one yet. I dunno, there's some issues that bothering me in Last Guardian. Still, the big doggo (yes it's doggo shh) is damn cute

Bloodborne, 70 hours in. New game plus and finding new areas and bosses I missed during my first play through. One of the best games I've ever played. Like a 3D Symphony for the Night.

I really don't want to play anything else right now. Not had so much pure enjoyment in a game since MGS5.

Super Mario 64 - Finished for the first time ever. I've started three or four times before this but always stopped playing at some point. Feels good to have that out of the way.
Going back for 120 stars over the weekend.

I managed to sneak in another half-hour this afternoon; it's just a lot of fun to play. I really take my time, just slowly easing forward and working out were the baddies are placed. The environments are great with lots of hiding places and routes to identify. As I'm playing on Cadet (easy) level, even when I cock things up I can take a hit or two and run away before returning to continue the fight :toot: .

I am hugely enjoying this, perhaps more so because I was a little unsure about it :) .

Batman: Arkham VR. It doesn't seem very long, it costs £15 and I need a £350 headset. Against that, I'm strawberry floating Batman. Worth every penny.

I'm going to get the GOTY edition when it's out. I was put off from the DS stuff due to the infamous difficulty but the experience of bloodborne has got me into the genre and I can't wait to see how DS3 compares to Bloodborne.

I've just started Bloodborne, too. I've had it installed for months now but - since I'm trying to buy fewer games this year - I've headed back to games I've initially shelved. My goodness, it's hard, though. I can see the appeal but I've reached a bit of a dead end already. Father Gascoigne is too punishing for me to learn an effective approach and that big warewolf thing on the main bridge can do one. I may grind up a few more levels but if I don't make headway against either of these two soon, I think it may be getting shelved again!

I stopped at father Gascoigne for a year. Then picked it back up. Now I'm level 162 I think. Finished it once and currently on new game plus. Keep going. It's not really about your power levels it's more about the skills you develop. YouTube has a lot of guides for taking him out. Personally I used the music box and then used the environment and my axe extended. That really allowed me to get some cheap hits in.

I've only grinded a couple of times. It does work when you need to get an edge.

If you can get good at the gun parry system that helps too. I've nog bothers much with it but I am getting into it now as I've been up against some bosses who are just evil and really need to be parried.
