The Long Dark - Survival.

10days into it and still hadn't found a gun. Then noticed an out look post on top of a cliff top in the distance so made my way towards it, outlook posts tend to have rifles, looting cabins along the way and sheltering if the weather took a turn. Something very relaxing about it all while at the back of your mind you know that you could run out of food if you don't keep on going. Made it to bottom of cliff to find a rope was dangling, I couldn't use it cos I was carrying too much so I dumped off supplies in a nearby cabin and head back to the rope to find a Bear was nearby.

In The Long Dark Bears and Wolves attack you on sight, they explain it as because of an 'unnatural phenomenon' but basically if you see a wolf or hear one, you best have had a flare or fire nearby cos you're mullered if you don't. Anyway I retreated into the woods and the Bear tracked me down, I couldn't scale hill behind me so just ran at it with a flare and thankfully made it to cabin, ate some supplies and heard wind pick up so slept in for the night, the next morning the coast was clear, made it up to look out and no gun, some food though, through a series of trips up and down cliff face I finally had everything i needed to trek on, there was a trail nearby that had to be leading somewhere so I followed it.

I got attacked by a wolf on the trail and stabbed it, now they run off and bleed out meaning you have to track them if want meat and pelt but I couldn't really as it was getting late, a cabin was just ahead and low and behold as I made my way through a blizzard it was dead on the doorstep, sheer luck. I holed up in cabin and ate well, the next day the storm had subsided so I kept on going, ended up in an old Coal mine, it was creepy as fook but had kept onto my lantern so I could see. found load of ammo for a rifle but no gun, made my way out of it and I was in familiar territory, I'd been in the area before (pleasant valley), once I go to the road I knew where to go so made my way to a big farm house again stopping off in cabins and houses on the way if a storm was blowing and slept in when it got dark. I had a scary encounter with a bear and found a gun but I'll talk about that more maybe later, love this game. Took a screenshot of all the food and medical supplies I garnered in new home, which it will be now I can hunt.

Has the rating actually managed to get to "positive" yet?

the overall score is still Mostly Negative but the recent score is now Mostly Positive after 78% positive reviews in the past 30 days

so I guess the answer to your question is "sort of, but not really"

I'm guessing a lot of people will be too burned to give it another go. Also the game seems to have become a bit of a punch line.

On a totally different note I just played Mega Man 1. It really hasn't clicked with me and I struggled to even get to a boss. But I just breezed through six bosses. It's still a bit annoying and it feels cheap to me but I feel good that I got through a large chunk of the game.

Back on Total Warhammer and I've managed to not die after 20 turns. Which is progress. In fact the last two realtime battles went incredibly well. Amazingly.

Your mention of Total War reminded me I gave Shogun 2 another shot last week and I still cant get into it. I loved Medieval and Rome but for whatever reason the Shogun series just doesnt grab me. I think it may simply be down to the setting, I know very little of Japans history and have no touchstones there so it makes everything in the game that little bit harder for me to grasp. In the other games I know some bit about the history of Rome or dark ages Europe so I have some in built knowledge I can call upon to keep me interested in those games. This has also made me realise I played next to nothing of Rome 2 and really should give that more of a go, so I think I might do that next.

Shank 2 on PS3. Having finished the original years ago and again just recently I thought it was time I gave the sequel a look. It's more of the same really only with a slightly improved combat system.

Stacking on PS3. I'm trying to clear some of my download backlog and thought I'd give this a look. I've finished the main game and just have the DLC to go through now. I'm really enjoying it, I love the art style and the puzzles are just the right side of logical that they don't make me feel like an idiot.

I got started into Horizon: Zero Dawn last week, but Sonic Mania keeps calling me back. Gotta finish this run as Tails, then give Knuckles' story a go, and I can get back to murdering machinery in a different setting.

Rage (co op missions)

You know there is some grade A game design when there is no checkpoint to go back to if you die.

Yakuza 5

Finally.

I'm doing same thing as Yakuza 4, spending ages doing stuff instead of the story... Close to 7hrs and nowhere near end of first chapter of first part >.>

This time I've decided to start it on Hard difficultly, gonna be fun ride

Holy strawberry float I managed to complete a Long campaign in Total Warhammer. Jesus.

That game has its problems, but when it's good it's really good. As with all Total War games it really sags in the middle, which I suppose why they had the Chaos forces invade at a set time. But yeah, it's fun.

Still playing Yakuza 5. Haven't gone back to SMT Devil Summoner Soul Hackers on 3DS yet :shifty: Though I've been playing lot of Soul Hackers before I got my PS3 replacement so could do with small break on that.

By small it might be for long while, considering I'm only on Part 1 Chapter 2 yet I've put in 16 hours. Just finished Kiryu's sidestory, doing substories + another master before I carry on with the story.

I decided to delve back into some of my older titles, on Sunday I deleted a few games I hadn't been playing and re-downloaded Shadow of Mordor and Dishonored DE. I hadn't finished either, (Dishonored's DLC). I was pleasantly surprised with both games. It's something I often do, I tend to come back to older games to finish and I think Dark Souls 2 on X1 will be revisited also.

Still pushing through the first Witcher and i'm definitely enjoying it, despite some vague/unclear quest directions and the odd crash bug - in one set-piece fight killing certain enemies crashes the game without fail so you run past the whole thing to trigger the next scene  it mashes up everything from Lovecraft to arthurian legend in an entertaining way despite the paucity of npc models and some ropey facial animations.

Also playing Flatout 4 for...some reason. Its a semi-competent sequel to much better games but is plagued with twitchy handling, dull environments and a lacklustre career which undermines its 'total insanity' subtitle. The stunts have been expanded nicely but there is almost nobody playing it apart from me according to steamcharts.

Honestly Fallout 4 is massive disappointment to me. I was looking forward to it having loved Fallout 3 and NV (as well original Fallout) but I couldn't get into Fallout 4. I hate how the dialogue choices are eh, I don't like the new perk system, and the combat... I don't know why, but it doesn't feel satisfying as Fallout 3 and NV.

I still have the game with hopes of getting into it proper but it can wait as there's other games I would rather be playing.

I think he was talking about Flatout 4, but I agree with everything you've said Seven. 4 was dull as dishwater and further proof, if it be needed, that Bethesda desperately needs a decent writing/creative staff.
