This seems pretty underrated as far as REs go, it's shaping up to be my favourite TPS in the series outside of 4 (obviously). It's still a bit more linear than I'd like, but the atmosphere and pacing are more on point in terms of what I want out of RE. Barry Burton's inclusion certainly helps \m/

Nearing the end of chapter 2, hope it doesn't run out of steam by the end; at least from what I've played I'm surprised it gets so overlooked.

I loved Revelations 2. The episodic hook worked really well too. I was discussing it with friends the same way we would a weekly TV show. Since the episodes came out so close together it made the entire thing feel like an intense mini-series.

Ah ace! That must've been fun, kinda sad I missed out on that week by week experience.

I'm guessing the Barry's at the island six months later stinger at the end of ep1 was a big talking point amongst you and friends :P

Yeah, it's a shame really. I think the episodic nature of it was actually what put a lot of people off, and why it's not talked about much, but it was one of the game's biggest strengths (It's also just really, really good which helps!)

That reveal did blow my mind, but one of my friends had actually figured it out almost instantly! They noticed that the buildings were in a noticeably worse state, including lots of holes in the roofs and such.

Think I might be just about ready to give up on this. I've beaten 2 of the lords, but now I'm struggling with just the grunts. There are 2 particularly that have big shields and don't really give me an opportunity to hit them with my standard weapon, so I have to resort to my magic gauntlet projectile attack. Which is very slow going as it needs to recharge. There is also some other guy who doesn't have a shield and can be hit fairly easily, but can do big damage when he hits you. Just feel that my character is underpowered making the game a chore to get through rather than fun.

I'll have another look tonight or tomorrow, but unless I make some decent progress, game over I suspect.

I quite like LotF. It is difficult, but once you get your head around the mechanics of each bad guy it does work.

The Graveyard Guardian is a real bastard, though, be warned. Once you've dropped him things do seem to flow a little easier after that, plus you can start crafting better weapons and armour.

Stick with it.

What did you play it on? I'm on the PS4 and screen tearing is a bit annoying.

PS4 here too. I missed the PSN+ offer, but I liked the look of it and so picked it up for under a tenner in the last sale.

Yes there's some annoying screen tearing, but not so bad as to ruin the game I feel. The game's biggest failing is that it's a tad unbalanced in those opening chapters, but as I say once you've dropped the Graveyard Guardian it balances out more evenly. Still damn hard and risky manoeuvres will still get you killed quickly more often than not, but you've more of a fighting chance.

Bought Fallout 3 for €7.50. It gets a big boost on X1X. 9x pixel count and better frame rate.

Are mods available for FO3 on Xbox as with Skyrim SE?

If you've finished it before, who could ever be strawberry floated about playing Fallout 3 again. Unlike NV, the quests weren't particularly interesting and bar one obvious example, I can't really remember your choices affecting the game world much.

F3 was great Bethesda game (i.e an iteration on Oblivion) but NV was a great RPG. Shame it was blighted by so many bugs for a while.

But, erm, enjoy.

I never played Fallout 3, I may have played an hour or so but I can’t tell if it was this or Vegas.

Just crashed out of Dead Rising. Got to what I think was the last boss managed to beat him but I didn't have any time left to do the last bit. Then I managed to die and the game crashed.

Think I'm going to play something else for a few days and then try and come back in a week or so. It's not a bad game but it gets a little repetitive after a while.

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.

Nice to see somebody else who enjoyed Lords of the Fallen. I’m sure every time I’ve mentioned it round here all the Souls crowd comes out of the woodwork with “gooseberry fool game, poor mans Dark Souls, 0/10 would not play again” or words to that effect.

It's entirely possible to enjoy both. I like the Souls series and LotF. You can chuck Nioh into that mix as well. All good games, all with pros and cons.

Had several tries at the graveyard guardian and not sure I've go the will to continue. I don't mind the guardian, it is the little strawberry floaters he spawns that are the problem. I know you can take them out before they are fully formed but when 1 or 2 are left and attacking whilst the guardian is also trying to get you it just isn't fun.

There's a dummy of yourself you can cast. I found that very useful. It attracts the monsters the Guardian spawns as well as the Guardian himself leaving you to kick ass for a few moments unhindered. Also try and get the spawn to place themselves in front of the Guardian by dodging and running so they follow you. The Guardian doesn't discriminate who he swings his axe at so he'll take the strawberry floaters out for you.

Interesting, I used that on the 2nd guardian and he never went after it, only the minions did. I assumed the guardians were immune to that spell. I might see if I can level up a bit before having another go.

I’m pretty close to 100% in Lego Force Awakens now. I just have some of the side missions in the Starkiller Base hub to clear. I think I’ll buy the DLC when I’m done too.

Ah well then, it's a good purchase, especially if it is with the DLC. Though if you have played Fallout 4 then a lot of the wow factor might pass you by. There's also the problem that all Bethesda RPGs are the same.

Wizardry 8.

Came across a very tough monster, (a spectre or something). Wiped out half of my party in one hit and rendered the other half unconscious. These old school "window pane" RPGs don't strawberry float about when it comes to laying the smack down.

Fun game, but any monsters that "float" and who aren't carrying a weapon of any sort I'm going to avoid for a while.

Xenoblade Chronicles
I'm 31 hours (I think) into this. Thankfully the side quests have thinned out somewhat and it feels like the plot is progressing at a decent rate. New characters, new abilities, new environments, etc. Still very much enjoying it, even if I only really get chance to play it for a few hours on a weekend, making for slow progress. Maybe by the end of the year I'll have it finished. :slol:

Space Channel 5 Part 2
Hmm. For a rhythm action game it's disappointing that the best piece of music is the game's theme tune, that you don't actually get to 'play'. In terms of the plot I have absolutely no idea what's going on, and while the 'craziness' of the situations and characters can be amusing, when the music itself isn't that great and the gameplay tedious, it doesn't make for a great experience. I get the impression it's a pretty short game, so I could finish it off, but I'm not sure I have the inclination to. It also seems oddly difficult - I'm pretty early on, but already it feels like there are too many commands being thrown at me, and couple that with the 'correct' timing of certain beats clearly being off, it can make for a frustrating game. Tempted to just pack it in and move on.
