Gears 4. I'm on chapter 5. This might be the worst Gears campaign I've played. I think I enjoyed Judgment better.

Velocity Ultra. This is pretty good. The teleport mechanic is badass, I love that idea.

Played a bit of of Life Goes On, it's a puzzle game that borrows from Monty Python and the holy grail and Lemmings. Each level sees you solving a puzzle based platform level that relies on you suiciding your men in to spike pits so the next on can use the corpse to safely traverse the level. There is also a bonus for getting one of your men eaten by a monster called Jeff.

It was mildly amusing for a bit but the humor wore off pretty fast. I think some kind of narration would have improved the game greatly.

Hah. Planning on playing through Judgement and 4 when my son returns from uni and you aren't making it out to be something to look forward to. Hopefully co-op will make the experience better.

Co-op makes everything better. I have no doubt you will enjoy both games that way.

I'm not saying Gears 4 is terrible. It's probably the worst one for me though. It nails all the mechanics from the previous titles but it just feels a bit repetitive and tired. It's a bit disappointing to me.

The Phantom Pain

Enjoying this as much as the first time round but the flaws are a bit more evident this time. The mission structure is all kinds of strawberry floated up and the whole thing feels more like an MMO than a story driven SP campaign. Which isn't bad as such (especially given the overuse of narrative in Guns of the Patriots) but the whole thing feels messy as strawberry float. I used another character to go on a mission for the first time, and everyone still referred to him as Boss. It was a strange departure from the usual intricacy of Kojima games.

It's still the best stealth game ever though. Scoping a base and capturing it without being detected feels as good as it did the first time round.

Back on Xenoblade Chronicles (original), think I still have while to go until end of main game but instead of worrying about beating it, I'm taking my time exploring as well doing sidequests while learning how to play as different characters (been Shulk for good 45hrs and wanted to try out different combat styles)

Gonna have remind myself with what I've got means I don't need to buy another game for time being! Nowhere near done with Mario Odyssey, barely touched puyo Vs Tetris and I've got Arms, MK8DX and Splatoon 2... Oh and in middle of Virtue Last Reward replay, this time on PS4.

So yeah, I'm good on new games. Yes I know, I'm keeping saying this...

It's a great game just not very easy! I got stuck at end level four. Are you hitting all the green bars to make sure your gun is ready to fire? Miss one and it won't and you go round again.

Not sure. I did work out the connection between missing bits and not firing, but it feels like when I miss I just don't know the right time to press.

Given up for the time being and started Ratchet & Clank on the PS4. This is great! The detail of the fur on Ratchet's ears and the water is done brilliantly

Just listen to the soundtrack - turn it up! - and hit it on the beat. This is not a shooter, it's a rhythm game! (Jesus, I spelt rhythm correctly with no help! Only taken 53 years.......)

Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Edition on PS3. I’ve started this game a bunch of times on at least 4 different formats but for whatever reason I’ve never progressed beyond the start of the second episode before. I’m approaching the end of the second episode now and the difficulty is really starting to ramp up.

I think they are blurry ribbon things attached to the nipples mate.

Yeah, exactly this. I said pretty much the same thing in my review back in the day, it's just a boring game. I haven't played Judgement but after 4 I'm not really fussed about going back and playing it again.

Well, I've started Mario Odyssey, CoD WWII and Assassin's Creed: Origins, but what's taking up all my time at the moment?

The 11-year-old Psychonauts. Still brilliant.

DOOM - PS4

Really enjoying this. I like how the game encourages you to get stuck in. I'm usually a very cautious FPS player, but in DOOM I've found throwing caution to the wind is the best way to play it. Great stuff and all at a buttery smooth 60fps.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

Started Kotor 2 for the second time. Not got very far, still at the mining base. It's not really grabbing me, it seems to be taking way too long to actually get going. I had the same problem with the first game, I think it took me around ten hours to get into it. After I got off the first planet and the game actually opened up.

I'm playing the single player of Forza 7 on the One X and the Prague track looks flippin amazing.
It makes me really want to see them do London again (from PGR) as that would look awesome.

Even on my measly 1080p set it's simply stunning  .

Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy. If there is any game series that can make me feel incredibly stupid, it's this one. Great production values though.

And Velocity Ultra. I don't like the maze levels in this at all. And the fact that it is making me grind to get to the next level now is kinda stupid.
