Ah yeah, I've gone back to Fire Emblem Warriors on Switch as I want to play something else other than Splatoon 2 as I don't like playing it without my pro controller for my bus trips -- I still think Hyrule Warriors is much better game (I should get switch version) but for what it is, it's fun enough to play through. I just wish it introduced other Fire Emblem heroes and not just Awakening/Fates, only non 3DS hero is Marth iirc. :/ The fan service is pretty meh compared to likes of Hyrule Warriors.

I’m playing Nightmare Mode on Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. While certainly more difficult than the main game it isn’t simply a harder setting it’s actually a second story scenario following on from the main game’s ending.

Hellblade:Senua’s Sacrifice on PS4. Enjoying this for the most part and it looks awesome but man is it obtuse and I’ve played every Soulsborne game.

EDIT: Also, the combat is nuisance!

FURTHER EDIT: The complete lack of a HUD and the threat of losing your progress makes this game a pure ballache.

It's such an awesome game, especially considering it was just a KS stretch goal game. Could have easily released in its own right for a moderate price.

Absolutely, as a preview game for what is yet to come it’s freaking fantastic!

I was a month behind in Edge mag reading when I went on holiday, and was interested in Yoku's Island Express thanks to the review. By the time I got back, it was on offer on the PS Store (still is), so I went for it.
It's bloody lovely. Metroidvania + Pinball. Really relaxing but it's got it's hooks into me with the typical revisiting areas once abilities have been unlocked. I really recommend it. It's not too challenging so far, but the collectibles often take some half-decent pinball skills or lightly-taxing puzzle solving.

I really want to enjoy Senua’s Sacrifice but I have no idea where to go and find myself just wandering around aimlessly.

I need to play this with a decent walkthrough as thus far I find myself just wandering round aimlessly.

Played about 2 hours of The Messenger on Switch. Can't move perfectly yet - all very linear so far, but I know that will change. The boss fights have been a good line between challenging and fun. Lots of variety. The writing isn't entirely to my taste with the attempts at humour, but certainly not grating. The hidden secrets seem very well hidden for these early portions.

It's a really linear game. Where are you? I'm sure once you get back on track you'll be fine, I wouldn't head for a walkthrough personally.

So the rune puzzles in the game are pretty much all the same, you're looking for the shape of the shape of the rune on the door somewhere in the environment. You might have to manipulate your surroundings to find it (shifting perspective to see two different trees, for example, or moving a block that's in the way, something like that).

When you get close you'll see lots of mini versions of the rune start flying around your head. Once you're in that vicinity it should be relatively easy to find, if not keep looking around and holding the left trigger to zoom in, this will sometimes find the rune by accident.

Hope that helps.

Playing various games rather than just one, which made my gaming more enjoyable tbh.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - Switch

I've got Wii U version and have finished book 1, but haven't went back since then and now I've decided to just treat myself short game, I grabbed this for Switch and I'm enjoying it again. Just finished Episode 2 with all optional goals beaten, diamonds and Pixel Toads found. (Not done goal times, but these can sod off for now)

Octopath Traveler - Switch

Well, this is something special. Went with Treesa as my first character, and did other two characters. Still too early to have real opinion of it but I can tell I'll like it a lot.

Splatoon 2 - Switch

Mostly doing ranked multiplayer since I've reached lv30 which meant I got full access to all weapons so I don't feel lack of choices are holding me back. I still rage unfortunately but I'm enjoying it in small bursts. I still plan to go back to Octo Expac singleplayer campagin to get all levels beaten/100% it.

Fire Emblem Warriors - Switch

It's good game but as said before it's not great for fan service. Thought it was pretty disappointing that they didn't explore other games like FE Heroes did -- however as decent Dyntasy Warriors-style game it's well worth a play. Just wish fanservice is better.

Just as as I thought, I started over with a clear head and beat the section first time.

Good work! There are occasional sticky bits, but generally the game is pretty straightforward from start to finish.

Bioshock remaster on PS4

I remember being distinctly underwhelmed by Bioshock upon its original release, especially after reading the glowing reviews, but it has only gotten worse over time - in fact, its actually very poor, visuals aside. Have put the difficulty down to 'easy' and basically speed-running it through to the end (and it's still blimmin tedious). I haven't played either Bioshock 2 or Infinite - are they worth dipping into or should I cut my losses now and stick it on ebay?

BioShock 2 is probably worth it. It suffers from sequelitis ("The same again, only moreso") but the combat is faaaaar better and there's actually a pretty decent story in there. The expansion, Minerva's Den, is essential however, and probably the best piece of BioShock content out there.

Infinite isn't worth it. The combat is as bad as 1, the story is pretentiously overblown nonsense and there's some serious centrist "Very fine people on both sides" politics going on. The two Buried at Sea expansions are much better than the main game, as Rapture remains a much better locale than Colombia, but you aren't missing much by skipping them.

The original remains one of my very favourite games, but it's aged really badly. The combat was never really any good but the atmosphere and story was a revelation at the time. I was so
