I've actually played the game an the animations and lip synch 'so far' are fine, I think this may be one of those internet things that get overblown x10.

One thing that kind of bothered me that had been complained about was the whole 'Humans meet new race and shoot at them rather than greet them' complaint. When I came across the Kettwigs after crash landing for the first time, it was them who fired upon me first and I chose the friendly hands up approach beforehand. As for bugs so far I've had a team mates gun vanish from their hands and during a cutscene the framerate dropped to 1fps :dread: which a quick hit the Windows key and re-open ME solved that and was back to normal.

I've cancelled my preorder because, having quit the game last time upon reaching the... whatever the new Citadel is called now, my save loads me in on the little shuttle that takes you from your ship to the arrivals lounge, with the door closed and no way to open it.

That'll probably be as far as you can actually go, no?

No you should be able to play past the arrival at the Nexus and explore the first world (not the prologue world you crash on at the start)

I've just arrived there and left it for the night so hopefully I don't run in to the same problem. Though I have been toying with the idea at starting afresh when I unlock the full game.

It happens 100% of the time if you quit after taking the shuttle ride, but the game keeps multiple saves so I was able to go back 2 minutes and load from when we docked.

I'm not saying I won't buy the game, but rather that I'm going to wait for the reviews now instead.

2 and half hours in so far, great stuff.

- Character creation seems pretty varied, tatoo down middle of my face.
- Combat feels a lot more fluid and faster. Various boosts along with biotic powers are fun i.e flamethrower from the hand 8-)
- Can look stunning, dodgy textures up close though
- Interesting story set up so far, met most of old races already.
- The squatting while walking away in cutscenes a couple of female characters do is hilarious/ridiculous

Another impressions piece from RPS, this time from Alec Meer, and although they're not as bad as Walker's, they're not good.

I haven’t found Mass Effect Andromeda to be objectionable or even a huge lapse in quality, but I have struggled to care about anyone. Personalities are either broad or buried behind too many layers of exposition, your own character’s role is confused, the third-person combat feels routine and, most of all, this new galaxy feels oddly similar to so many other space marine games. Plenty of big RPGs (I’m using the term loosely here, fear not) have slow starts, so I’m entirely open to finding more points of connection later, but so far there is that sense of a game going through established motions, underneath a very high tech skin. I certainly don’t think what I’ve played of MEA is a disaster, but it really needs to find its mojo soon if I’m to stick with it.

Finished the story as far it let you, was good fun :) frame rate still sucky in places, going to pick it up beginning next month

Anyone else had the game lock up/freeze for around 10 seconds then become unstuck?

I actually remember the faces from Inquisition being fairly decent. It seems they should have just ditched whatever they were doing with this and just ported that over.
