Absolutely. Andromeda seems to have become a victim - not *entirely* without cause - of the internet "perceived knowledge" noise. It does have some bugs, odd bits and weird animations... but I suspect these are small aspects of a much bigger picture. Some GRcadians have noted here how they're enjoying the game but that will get drowned out by the "Andromeda is sh!T! Worst game eva???!!11!?" YouTube response.

I'm not excusing the bugs in such a high profile, big budget game - and some of these vids are pretty funny! - but it does feel like things have been a tad over the top.

I don't why you've taken to defend this. I think people could get past the bugs if it was a strong game, it isn't just about the bugs. The voice acting is atrocious, it's been written by a 10 year old and has become more of a shooter. This has come so far away from what made Mass Effect great.

I get the impression that the majority of the bugs are from unpatched versions.

I don't feel I was defending the game as such, Floex; more commentating that the criticism had seemingly gotten a little out of hand. I can't really give any more viewpoint than that because I haven't played the game. I can understand frustration that the gameplay style has perhaps altered from the first title; I believe it does have a greater focus on fighting now than on exploration?

Well contrary to all the negative opinions I am really enjoying this! In over 10 hours I've seen one bug, a solid mirrror/shadow of a character and it lasted about 2 seconds.

The dialogue is not as bad as people are making out, not every line was the original trilogy was Shakespeare.

The main concept of the story is interesting to me (basically Interstellar without the time travel nonsense) I accept they have been a little lazy with writing new races and side characters. But generic is not the same as gooseberry fool.

The lip sync animation is poor I'll accept that, but it still feels like ME - combat, biotics, cover based shooting, world exploration, character interaction and relationship building etc

Overall I'd say it's a good game it just lacks that spark of originality that elevates a 7 or 8 into a 9 or 10

Just compare that to The Witcher 3. How does this happen?

I blame the Frostbite engine.

Latency issues have been horrific in this. Random disconnects during matches, poor connection quality. Absolute wind up.

Shows how little faith EA had in this when they didn't have a beta to test out the MP.

So I've put about 40hrs into the SP so far and Im really enjoying it. It's a shame the hate campaign has killed a lot of people's enthusiasm for this. Ok it's not as genre defining or unique as the original trilogy but it still feels like a ME game. The characters are a little bland but with enough time they do start to develop and though they may be generic they also feel real, with real motivations histories etc.

I can see why people feel it's a lazy copy paste of the original games, but it has its own feel and that's enough for me. The open world design is hit and miss though and I find myself getting lost a lot. Cluttered user interface doesn't help.

As for bugs I've seenabout 5-6 in 40hrs, mostly graphical glitches or occasional slow down. Nowhere near as bad as people make out.

Overall I'm having a blast with it, and the dialogue while hammy in places is par for the course with sci-fi (originals too)

Kadara seems to be fully done. Really enjoyed it but the pay off is a little unsatisfying because of it's shallowness

Reyes being the Charlaten was obvious early on - but I enjoyed the entire arc, and got to be flirty/funny/banter with him. Liked the roof scene as well.

But then the end seems to come down to a binary "do you let him assinate Sloane" choice. I'd have let him kill her one on one - but not in a set up like that (well that's what my instincts told me with the interupt).

There didn't seem to be any other way to resolve that situation - and I get a short goodbye e-mail from him. No chance to talk/explain.

My crew don't mention anything at all - despite my flirty crush being gone. They were teasing during missions about him.

Lack of narrative "pay off" or "fall out" put a real downer on the whole arc

How spoilery is the AJ review? I'm finally going to start playing this properly tomorrow but don't wanna get spoiled.

24 hours in and I came across a bug that broke a quest (Kett's Bain) I was talking to Bain and during the talk a bunch of Kett walked in and killed me during the conversation which still went on till I could restart. Go back in his hut and it freezes and can't do anything. Had to load an earlier save.

Apart from that I'm still really enjoying it even if the conversations can be a bit much

Not really but it doesn't tell you anything you probably dont already know so you may as well leave it just in case

I was a bit disappointed with his review, I was hoping for something like his ME3 ones  he seemed to review it quite fairly though, it's neither an amazing or a bad game, just very mediocre.
