2 and half hours in so far, great stuff.

- Character creation seems pretty varied, tatoo down middle of my face.
- Combat feels a lot more fluid and faster. Various boosts along with biotic powers are fun i.e flamethrower from the hand 8-)
- Can look stunning, dodgy textures up close though
- Interesting story set up so far, met most of old races already.
- The squatting while walking away in cutscenes a couple of female characters do is hilarious/ridiculous

Another impressions piece from RPS, this time from Alec Meer, and although they're not as bad as Walker's, they're not good.

I haven’t found Mass Effect Andromeda to be objectionable or even a huge lapse in quality, but I have struggled to care about anyone. Personalities are either broad or buried behind too many layers of exposition, your own character’s role is confused, the third-person combat feels routine and, most of all, this new galaxy feels oddly similar to so many other space marine games. Plenty of big RPGs (I’m using the term loosely here, fear not) have slow starts, so I’m entirely open to finding more points of connection later, but so far there is that sense of a game going through established motions, underneath a very high tech skin. I certainly don’t think what I’ve played of MEA is a disaster, but it really needs to find its mojo soon if I’m to stick with it.

Finished the story as far it let you, was good fun :) frame rate still sucky in places, going to pick it up beginning next month

Anyone else had the game lock up/freeze for around 10 seconds then become unstuck?

I actually remember the faces from Inquisition being fairly decent. It seems they should have just ditched whatever they were doing with this and just ported that over.

Is anyone else completely put off buying this purely because of the facial animations?

I'm too used to games like Uncharted 4, Last of Us and LA Noire to cope with these, they're just jarring.

Personally it wouldn't bother me as with all RPGs I'll just put subtitles on and skip all the dialogue scenes.

Animations do look odd, but would they put me off playing the game? Not in the least.

Up to the first main planet during the trial and so far I've seen no animation problems apart from that assault rifle being invisible in someone's arms during a cutscene. What I've played so far I've really enjoyed and love being back in the ME universe.

It's a shame that the appetite for being negative about stuff on the internet seems to have taken over the launch of the game. Exaggeration has kicked in and, judging by all the memes, gifs and outrage, you'd think that Andromeda was one of the worst-looking games ever made! Views vary but, personally, a few derpy animations wouldn't put me off from playing it.

Considering the amount of abuse this woman has received, the response from Bioware is strawberry floating pathetic. She's being abused by hundreds of gamerate types, and the best they can come up with is "wait guys, she wasn't actually the Lead, so ease off yeah?"

Shameful.

Its not just a few off animations though. The facial animation looks exactly the same as it did 10 years ago.

Considering the amount of time the game spends pointed at someone's face it's pretty appalling.

Horizon has just as much dialogue and the facial animations are a ton better.

The message I have been getting is that the game is kind of a mixed bag. Visually the environments are impressive, some of the animation quality is ropey but this various between characters and between scenes. Nothing particularly deal breaking for me so far even though I am kind of disappointed. I will not make any final judgement on whether to buy or not until I see the full reviews.

Oh, the manbabies need to strawberry float the strawberry float off. Even if she was the lead, which she isn't, and even if the game was totally awful, which it doesn't seem to be, it's still just a videogame. Even if this was the worst game in the world ever made and she personally insulted your actual mother it still doesn't justify those kinds of threats. Some people need to get lives and realise what's genuinely important in this world.

Is it decent? I tend to like the same sort of games you do Garly?

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

Yeah it is, simply put if you like the previous Mass Effect games then you'll like this one. Crazy how much hate it's garnered. I most certainly didn't play the previous games for top notch animations and facial features :slol:

Loved them, the graphics and animations in the first 3 were all janky so whats the issue here? As long as Ive got the dialogue options, some fun battles and a decent story, i'll be happy.
