Spot-on. Miitomo is strongly based upon Tomodachi Life which, whilst being a good seller on the 3DS, never gained too much recognition. Suddenly a version appears on phones and everyone is talking about it!

It is good fun but I wonder how Nintendo will approach this. It has been terrific for building recognition of the Mii and Nintendo brands, but it isn't doing anything to make money. I'm new to mobile gaming but I already feel a bit ill about the constant "spend, buy more, watch adverts!" style that seems to dominate. I fear that Nintendo will end up doing what every other mobile publisher is doing and seek to drag as much money as possible out of consumers. That's business, I guess.
Man, I feel like a right grump writing that. Perhaps I'll re-focus on the fact that Miitomo is pretty cool
