I saw your previous comment as well, it is only an advert but if we had a bunch of folk murdering Jews while drinking Pepsi the outrage - I'm sure we can agree - would be justified.

Obviously that's a ludicrous example but it's just, then, finding where the line is for us to care.

This seems like an ideal time to ask - who is Kendall Jenner, and why are people so interested in her? She seems like one of those people who's famous (ish) for no real reason and hasn't really done anything.

As opposed to those calm folks on the right who never get annoyed or outraged over anything....

She's a Pepsi saleswoman who is famous for leading protests against corruption and police brutality. She has dedicated her life to the betterment of humanity and has won 4 Nobel Peace Prizes for her tireless campaigning against the worlds evil regimes.

This is partly my point though, 'the right' obviously have a equal - or greater, probably much greater - amount of bellends who get offended by everything. The issue is they also hold the means of power and political office in the U.K. And USA and generally control the vast majority of media output too. They shape most conversation, while we (the royal 'we') get offended by David Moyes joking about slapping a female acquaintance.

My point is slightly different. Liberals are being constantly accused of being "snowflakes" or being "too easily offended" etc, but it is not a liberal phenomenon, it's a human one. People see something they don't like and they have a good old fashioned bloody whinge about it. Left wingers whinge about sexism/racist (whether real or imagined) and right wingers whinge about foreigners/Easter eggs.

People are entitled to be offended and speak out against things they disagree with, and people are of course entitled to criticise that criticism. And the world goes round and round.

I don't think the issue with David Moyes was that he threatened to slap a female btw. The issue was that he said "if you weren't a woman! lmao girls can't be slapped!!". In a sport like football where women are routinely belittled and excluded, it was a perfect example to use. Personally I couldn't give a gooseberry fool about Moyes, but I can see why people commented on it.

Has anybody done anything different to your suggestion?

You cut out the bit where I said I don't get why people are so angry. Youtube is full of politically charged comments. In this thread, Taf seems to think it's a morally unacceptable advert.

The cut made no difference. "Sure. This advert is a peace march with people drinking Pepsi, though. I've no idea why people are so angry. Leave a dislike on youtube or say it's stupid, but getting all political over it is overkill." Has anybody done anything different to your suggestion?

Yes, on youtube. When I said I don't get why people are angry it extended to the wider world, seeing as almost nobody in this thread is angry.

And in the wider world, how have people reacted any differently to your suggestion?

I'm not dragging anything out, you keep replying.

All I was asking is if you think it is ok to call it stupid on YouTube comments, why is it not ok to be political on other websites/social media?

Lucien wrote:Jesus Moggy, you're really dragging this out. All I said was people getting angry and political over the advert were being too serious.

It's an ad campaign based on politically charged imagery, of course people are going to get political about it.

It is, and I gave my reasoning in my first post:

I would have thought policemen preferred Dr. Pepper Spray.
