I really don't think I needed to see Klingoobs like that.

Ironhide wrote:Seeing as they namedropped Spock in episode 6 are we likely to see the original Enterprise (captained by Kirk) at some point or is this set before the Enterprise is built.

This is before Kirk is Captain, Pike is Captain at the moment I think. The Enterprise was about 20 years old by the time of TOS so would be about 10 years old during Discovery. Burnham also mentioned the Enterprise as a ship Tilly would want to try and get assigned to.

I'd like to hope that they've maybe time travelled into the future of the TV timeline or something, but I hope they don't use this as an excuse to go "well now it's a totally different universe and we can do what the strawberry float we want without worrying about continuity" because there really doesn't need to be a third Star Trek timeline.
If they wanted to do whatever they want they should've made something set post-Nemesis rather than a prequel.

Jonathan Frakes directed the next episode which is out tomorrow. I hope it's a decent script.

Really enjoyed the first half of the series, unexpectedly so, so I'm really looking forward to this. Me and the other half watch it together so in all likelihood I'll save these up and watch them at a later date.

I really don't know why I keep watching. It was quite a poor episode. Maybe I am just optimistic that it will eventually turn out fine.

I am not a fan of the writing at all. The only good part was the the Klingon.

The crew back stories so far have been dull. I have no empathy for or any interest in any of the crew. The story seems pretty much copy and paste the best bit from other series with loads of fan service to win people over.

I thought that was a fairly good episode.

Anyone else think blonde Tilly was kind of hot?

Good episode. Really enjoyed it.

My son was talking to me at one point so I think I missed a bit of the background to the story behind the alternative universe. Did they explain why the humans are in an empire and are bad? I caught the bit where they explained a bit about the rebels.

Absolutely. :shifty:

Mixed feelings about the ep. Ultimately I think it was one of the better Discovery episodes, but probably not as good as it should have been given the Mirror Universe is pure fanservice and should have really appealed to me.

I can't believe people liked that. It was horrible TV, never mind Trek.

So they go to (and work out) they're in the Mirror Universe very quickly. Doesn't make any sense that Suru went "I don't know where we are" as a cliffhanger then since the stars/systems are the same.

Oh thank god that Rebel ship had the data core with Intel on everything they needed - included classified top secret projects...the only thing it didn't have for plot reasons was the identity of the Emperor (Georgeou I bet you). It's just lazy non-sense writing. They could have taken a core from a destroyed Empire ship and it would have made more sense...so why not?

That amazing cloak breaking algorithm? Yeah we didn't think to send it on to anyone...FEEL THE URGENCY VIEWER!!!

’Hey the Klingons seem to have physically altered you and you might be a fake personality. So I’ve told no one and will reveal this too you alone in a locked room. Don't ask where any other Doctor's or nurses are.' Another "shocking" death down to stupidity.

The Captain's been tortured, we literally just left him there. But let's slow down and take the mission a careful pace. Also let's put some mood lighting on, talk about our feelings and boink. There's no need for us to care or have any sense of urgency...Oh gooseberry fool look he's been tortured FEEL THE URGENCY VIEWER!!!

and so on

The Mirror Universe has been a thing since the original series; its your usual alternate dimension where history played out differently yet the same people and ships are there.

Enjoyed that episode. Thought the Empire uniforms looked like something out of Flash Gordon.
