It was dreadful, I don't know why people are raving about it.

Just catching up on the last few episodes and yeah if you're on about the big fight in episode 13 then yeah that looked pretty bad :dread:

Where was anyone raving about it? Couple of reviews I read said it was poor

I liked the final episode.

I'm excited about the next series with The Enterprise turning up.

I enjoyed it almost as much as I enjoy Hexx's utter disdain for it.

I've no idea if that's a nice or nasty thing :P

One of the people in my boardgame group is an utter Trek fanatic (he has his own uniform...or two). One of my current favourite pass times is to gently poke him about Discovery and watch the 10 minute rant.

Fantastic finale, really enjoyed the series overall, can’t wait for the next.

On the finale though,

did they really just leave a planet destroying bomb in the ands of the Klingons? They could have just shot L'Rell and taken the bomb off her, then headed to earth with it.

In my opinion they should have just blown the Klingon home world up. The alternative was earth and then Vulcan being destroyed. They blow up enemy ships all the time if they are under attack. It’s the same just on a much larger scale.

Part of me wanted her to drop the control device and destroy the planet by accident.
The apology tour she'd need to do would be endless.

You might want to spoiler some of that!

Yeah there's literally no reason they can't kill L'Rell...there could be some sort of dead man switch but it wasn't mentioned.

The bomb IIRC would only work like that on Volcanic worlds

Ok I’ll spoiler it but I thought we weren’t using spoilers after the show had aired.

yeah I forgot it needed to be a volcanic planet, but still a massive risk to take. Blow that gooseberry fool up!

Just read that season two won’t be on till at least 2019 :fp:

Oh where we not? I assumed there was some sort of same day spoiler approach.
Who the hell knows these days :P I might have just made that up entirely.

The finale had a dull start but was fine once it got going. Rejecting the obvious solution of genocide in favour of a riskier but more principled political solution is the first 'Federation-y' thing the Discovery have actually done, so I enjoyed that. It wasn't fantastically written but at least its heart was in the right place.

Thought it was perhaps a little anticlimactic, but the Cronos homeworld was great, hope it gets used more next series. That final scene though. :datass:

Maybe the fact that I’ve really enjoyed this series explains why I really wanted them to just blow Cronos up :datass:

While that would have been great it would be rather hard to explain why the Klingons never mention the destruction of Cronos during Next Gen or DS9.
You'd think it might pop up in conversation now and then at least.

I know that’s why I knew it was never going to happen. That’s the problem with prequel programs.

They could go with the old mass amnesia story :slol: .
It'd be a tough sell but they could indeed try.

All the other races just agree to never bring up the subject :shifty: .

I've been guessing that Discovery is set in another alternative universe the whole time (as in alternative to the other Star Trek TV shows/movies).

That would explain why there's no mention of the spore drive in any other show.

I think it will just end with them classifying the adventures of the USS Discovery. Just ignoring all the thousands of people they’ve come in contact with and have problem witnessed them jump etc

I don't know why they decided to do another prequel. Set it after voyager. Have them develop new warp tech, and allow them to go to another galaxy or something.
