I was one of the few Trek fans who liked it :shifty: .

For series 1 and 2 the opening to Enterprise was really good, I have the full length version in my car.
The jazzed up remix for series 3 and 4 was utterly awful though..

But I will admit, Archers theme would have made a much better opening,

Though I like this version even better,

And then of course there was the fantastic In a Mirror Darkly opening for 2 episodes,

I like the one with the variation of the Generations theme, gooseberry fool quality video though:

Think it builds nicely, fits with the technology progressing. Nice confident signature Star Trek theme at the end too.

‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Premiere May Be Delayed; James Frain Cast As Spock’s Father

There may be a delay in the scheduled May launch of Star Trek: Discovery, the upcoming new series for CBS All Access, CBS’ live streaming and VOD service.

The news came as the casting of James Frain (Orphan Black) was announced as Spock’s father, Sarek. First introduced in the original Star Trek, Sarek has made multiple appearances throughout the franchise over the last five decades.

“Production on Star Trek: Discovery begins next week,” CBS said in a statement. “We love the cast, the scripts and are excited about the world the producers have created. This is an ambitious project; we will be flexible on a launch date if it’s best for the show. We’ve said from the beginning it’s more important to do this right than to do it fast. There is also added flexibility presenting on CBS All Access, which isn’t beholden to seasonal premieres or launch windows.”

The network is not confirming a move from the scheduled May launch date, but notes there is more flexibility on timing given it is a streaming platform. Production was already scheduled to begin next week, so there is no delay on that front.

I'm fine with a delay if they need it as I'd rather they get it right.

At least they'll save money by not having to give him fake Vulcan ears.

WTF are those? That is not what a klingon looks like.

I know the 90s Klingons would look kinda dated now, but I much prefer them to those. I just have to accept that I only like 20th century Star Trek, and this really doesn't look like it will change that fact. Really upsets me as I like to think of myself as a Star Trek fan, and I even got quite excited by this this: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/what ... nine-doc#/ as I have not really enjoyed a star trek series since DS9. (well I did until I realised that Avery Brooks was not involved)

DS9 was the only show I actually followed to some extent. I think I liked it more than the others as it was basically a political drama set in space with an overarching plot line, whereas the other serious were more about what hi-jinks the crew would get up to that week which can be kind of hit or miss.

That's exactly the reason why I think DS9 above the other ones. You still had one off episodes in DS9 (the visitor ), but there was always an overarching plot to rein the show back in.

Don't get me wrong, I love TNG, there's some absolutely classic trek in there. But DS9 is better.

Those Klingons are slightly better looking than the gooseberry fool Into Darkness ones.

The problem with DS9 is that it took over half of the shows entire run for it to actually pick up steam. Besides the very rare good episode, the first 3 series were some of the most boring television to ever carry the Star Trek name.

But 4-7 DS9 is trek at its absolute best. I think they were trying to find their feet in the early series and eventually realised that in a space station that doesn't move it's harder to have "episodes of the week"

The dominion war was superb. Exciting, dramatic, morally ambiguous. It was very dark and adult compared to what came before. Covering everything from PTSD, struggling with desperate politics and wartime trickery and the effect on those caught in the middle / families.

I think Season 4 is where it starts to become truly great. I mean, that first episode in the season is strawberry floating awesome (Way of the Warrior, where the Klingons invade the station).

My theory It all correlates to the Sisko's haircut. Bald Sisko improves DS9 exponentially. It's a bit like a reverse Riker's beard.

It's the promotion. Captain sisko > commander sisko

Star Trek: Discovery will rev its engines on CBS All Access “sometime late summer, early fall we’re looking at probably right now,” CBS chief Les Moonves told investors today at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference.
